Chaminade’s School Counseling Program Team
Chaminade University’s Master of Science in Counseling Psychology (MSCP) program has been granted initial accreditation for its School Counseling Program by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). The accreditation status of “no weaknesses or stipulations” is effective for a period of five years, which is the maximum allotted time for an initial accreditation.
“We are pleased with this new recognition which our School Counseling program has received,” said Chaminade president, Bro. Bernard Ploeger, SM. “The vision of the program is to develop qualified, effective counselors while strengthening partnerships in the community. We appreciate this evidence of the program’s effectiveness, as shown by this accreditation.”
Chaminade University’s Master of Science in Counseling Psychology (MSCP) program is designed to prepare graduates for work in the community and schools, assisting children, youth, and adults in adapting to various educational, family, organizational, and societal demands.
Providers accredited under TEAC Quality Principles, as well as those accredited under the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) standards, are now served by the single specialized accreditation system for educator preparation in the United States, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). More than 900 educator preparation providers participate in the CAEP accreditation system.
