The Savoy Recreation Center invites you and your family to join them as they kick off the summer with a FREE Summer Kick-Off/Touch a Truck event this Sunday, April 26 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Fire engines, police vehicles, road work trucks and more will be showcased at the Savoy Recreation Center Touch a Truck Day-all they need is you! Photo provided.
Head to the Savoy Recreation Center and let the kids enjoy some games and some cool treats. Kids of all ages will hurry down to see, touch and even sit in trucks of all kinds!
The Savoy Recreation Center is also offering a variety of camps this summer to kids your kids ages 5-12 engaged. Each camp offers a variety of activities including life enrichment skills, physical activity and much more!

What: Central High School to Present ‘Grease’
Where: Champaign Central High School
When: Thursday- Saturday, April 23-25, at 7:00 p.m.; Sunday, April 26, at 2:30 p.m.
How Much: Cost is $13 for adults and $7 for students and tickets will be available only at the door which open 1/2 hour before show time.
Appropriate For: All ages
Why You Should Go: Awopbopaloobop awopbamboom! Central High School will present the musical Grease, including songs written for the movie. Come see the beloved movie performed live by our incredibly talented Central students!
What: Big Ten Men’s Tennis Tournament
Where: Atkin’s Tennis Center
When: Friday, April 24, Quarterfinals at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Saturday, April 25, Semifinals at noon; Sunday, April 26, Finals at noon.
How Much: Free
Appropriate For: All ages
Why You Should Go: Kids love tennis? Come out and support the University of Illinois Men’s Tennis Team as they host the Big Ten Men’s tennis tournament. Matches will be held indoors or outdoors weather permitting. Illinois is competing in the Number one seed! Roads on Friday and Saturday to the Atkin’s Tennis Center will be closed due to the marathon, click here for parking guidelines.
What: Prairie Fruits Farm and Creamery Spring Open House
Where: Prairie Fruits Farm
When: Saturday, April 25, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
How Much: Free
Appropriate For: All ages
Why You Should Go: It’s the last Spring Open House of the Season! Visit the farm, see the baby goats (and the moms) for FREE, and maybe get lucky and witness a goat birth. You can also buy some great local food products and enjoy a local food breakfast on the farm. This is a great time to come out visit the farm, see some of the new babies, and get an early taste of spring.
What: Magic, Games ‘N More and Diaper Drive
Where: Champaign Fire Department
When: Saturday, April 25, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
How Much: Admission is 1 package of new diapers ( 27-31 count or more) OR $7.00 per person at the door.
Appropriate For: All ages, but especially for kids in grades K-5.
Why You Should Go: Join the Champaign Fire Department for a magic show, game booths, craft booths and delicious refreshments. Professional Magician Jon Wayes will perform from 11:00am-11:30am. 100% of proceeds go to the Bottom Line Diaper Bank’s diaper purchase for Champaign-Urbana area families in need.
What: The Busey Illinois Youth Run
Where: Memorial Stadium
When: Saturday, April 25, 2:30 p.m.
How Much: $12 entry fee in advance, $15 day of the race.
Appropriate For: Ages 4 – 9, but have seen kids as young as 2 run!
Why You Should Go: Because the kids get to cross the finish line at Memorial Stadium! There’s still time to register and pick up race packets for this 1K run (a little more than a half mile). Kids should be able to finish the run on their own two feet. Parents can run with their kids, too.
What: Summer Kick Off/Touch a Truck
Where: Savoy Recreation Center
When: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 26
How Much: Free
Appropriate For: All ages
