The Lax Kw’alaams Band says a rally initially planned for this Saturday has been postponed.

The intent of the event was to bring together hereditary chiefs, leaders, and community members opposed to Pacific NorthWest LNG and its work near Flora Bank and Lelu Island.

Lax Kw’alaams Mayor Garry Reece says the event was postponed because of other cultural gatherings in the region, but says they remain committed to hosting the rally at a later date.

Organizers say representatives from Skeena River corridor, including the Gitanyow, Gitxsan, and Wet’suwet’en were expected to attend the event.

The Lax Kw’alaams Band says it will keep people up to date about future developments regarding the rally.
