Hey, it didn't stop Vegas. Or El Segundo. Or Bakersfield. Or Austin. Or most of Arizona and Nevada.

dude there is nothing in the south australian desert exceot those opal mine. its way different circumstances. the whole reason the town came into being was because of the opal mines during the late colonial era or something around there.

water is such a precious commodity in australia. most of the country is desert, we cant just pipe water around so much as the us can, south australia had to fight for water because the murray darlington sits in vic and sa

the state government didnt even want to support coober pedy because theres nothing there besides the opal mines. its a historical site to be sure, but theres nothing there of any value, the state government had a hard time getting federal support for even whyalla which was a major industrial centre in south australia. they got it eventually, and for adelaide. both were major industrial centres during the reaper war

the reason adelaide was nuked from orbit and not taken over bt reaper ground forces was for the simple fact that there was to much industry here and the reapers couldnt afford to have it active.

ive paid a great deal of attention to my homestate's history. i just hope SATAE doesnt fuck south australia over
