Sharing the robust 4.4-liter V8 power plant is one trait each has in common. From there, the M5 differs slightly in form, being a notch longer and heavier than the BMW M6. The M5 also has the option of a traditional 6-speed manual gearbox, while the BMW M6 comes exclusively with the M-DCT dual-clutch automatic. The M-DCT is available on the M5 as well.
Heart-pounding track performance aside, the real secret behind the two BMW models is as good as each is on the speedway, performance in routine driving like commuting to work or taking a leisurely cruise for a weekend adventure, the BMW M5 and BMW M6 both provide an enjoyable drive no matter the circumstance.
