The Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen Foundation to Donate up to $300,000 to the Cade Museum for Creativity + Invention
Dedicated to improving Central Florida, The Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen Foundation has pledged to match 50 percent of the donations made to the Cade Museum’s Capital Campaign up to $300,000 for the next two years.
Founded by the family of the late Dr. James Robert Cade, lead scientist behind Gatorade, The Cade Museum is an interactive museum that fosters creativity in individuals to inspire the minds of future inventors and early entrepreneurs. The facility, to feature exhibits highlighting the invention of Gatorade, history of great American inventors, interactions of the brain and more is scheduled to open in late 2015.
“We thank The Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen Foundation for its belief in invention and creativity in Central Florida,” said Cade Museum Foundation Board President and CEO, Phoebe Cade Miles, the daughter of Dr. Cade. “With this generous financial gift we look forward to impacting the lives of future entrepreneurs and inventors.”
The Cade Museum will be located in downtown Gainesville’s Depot Park, an area currently in a redevelopment phase as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to draw and support innovative companies and startups. Phase one of construction, scheduled to be completed in late 2015, will open a 21,000-square-foot facility on two acres of land. A second phase will add an additional 24,000 square feet to the museum at a future date.
