Congress President Sonia Gandhi and  Vice President Rahul Gandhi did not congratulate Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi but greeted the BJP for its resounding  victory in the elections.

The BJP expressed dismay at the failure of the two Congress leaders for failing to congratulate Mr Modi and said that even when world leaders had conveyed their congratulatory messages, the two senior Congress leaders had failed to do so.

BJP’s senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said when Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Sri Lankan President Mahinda  Rajapaksha had congratulated Mr Modi, why did the two senior  leaders of the Congress not do so.

Sonia, Rahul accept responsibility: Accepting responsibility for the party’s debacle in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi today expressed  hope that the new government would not compromise with India’s unity and the interests of the people.

PM congratulates Modi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today  called up BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and  congratulated him on BJP’s victory in the Lok Sabha polls. Sources said the Prime Minister called up Mr Modi and congratulated him on his party’s victory in the Lok Sabha polls.
