Slamming BJP MP Vinay Katiyar for sexist comments against her, Congress leader and daughter of party president Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today said his comments exposed the ruling party’s mindset towards the better half of India’s population.
Mr Katiyar stirred a controversy when, in reply to a question on Ms Priyanka Gandhi being a star campaigner of the Congress for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, he said he did not believe that she is a ‘star campaigner’ and that “there are other campaigners who are far more beautiful than her.” “What star campaigner? No, I don’t think that’s a factor.
There are so many other more beautiful female campaigners. There are heroines. So many others more beautiful,” Mr Katiyar told a TV channel when asked whether he thought Ms Priyanka Gandhi’s campaigning would be an advantage for the Congress in the state elections.
In a post on social media, Ms Priyanka Gandhi said, “he’s right…they do!! And if that’s all BJP sees in my colleagues who are each strong, brave and beautiful women that have battled through all sorts of hardships to get where they are, then he makes me laugh even more. “Because he exposes the BJP’s mindset towards the better half of the population of India.’’
