Fresh from her golden debut on top of the Billboard 200 chart, Ariana Grande is now giving her big voice a break.

On Wednesday, the 20-year-old singer wrote the following on Twitter:

First day off in forever… Vocal rest and watching movies in with my best friend @alexaluria dunno what I’d do without her

Thank you guys for the well wishes, I’ll be better in no time.. just need some rest

The tweets come just hours after Page Six reported that the “Baby I” singer was forced to cancel a number of appearances due to a vocal cord hemorrhage.

“Ariana had a show in L.A. on Monday night, then on Tuesday she woke up and felt unwell,” a source tells Page Six. “She tried to sing with her vocal coach, who recommended she see a doctor. She has a vocal cord hemorrhage. She is devastated at this news, but she knows she will have to rest.”

Grande made huge news this week by becoming the first female solo artist since Ke$ha to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Grande’s debut album Yours Truly sold some 138,000 copies, beating out Tamar Braxton’s Love & War and Nine Inch Nails’ latest album Hestitation Marks.

According to Grande’s Instagram, the young singer had her vocal chords examined just three days ago.
