Calum has revealed ALL about his younger years - and it's really sad...
Celebrity Big Brother star Calum Best is a pretty relaxed housemate.
Despite being in there for two weeks already, he’s only just been put up for nomination for the first time – probably due to the fact he likes to stay out of most of the house spats.
In fact, the 35-year-old is SO chilled-out, we tend to forget what a difficult time he’s had.
But after keeping himself to himself, now the model has opened up about growing up in the spotlight and struggling to deal with the loss of his dad, football legend George Best.

Calum’s dad, George suffered with alcohol and drug addiction for most of his adult life and even after a liver transplant in 2002, he struggled to stay sober and died just three years later.

Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of Channel 5’s In Therapy (1st Feb), Calum revealed the moment his world collapsed when he caught his dad drinking again while holidaying with his family after he promised he would quit.
The star said: ‘I knew he had just swigged from this bottle. And it was like ‘f***’. That moment in the hospital could have been the changing point for everything. But it ended right there. I wanted to give up then totally.

‘From then on it was just back to drinking. And he drank and drank until it ended. I remember leaving that trip so confused and upset and distraught.’

And the CBB All-Star, who’s mum Angie Best joined him in the house this year, admitted he struggled to deal with the strained relationship he had with his dad, adding: ‘We talked women. We talked football. We talked those things really well. But there was no depth to it. There were no ‘I love yous’.”
Calum added: ‘When my dad was alive there was always hope. I always had hope that me and him were going to form a relationship. But when he died I lost that hope.’

And understandably, the star admitted that watching his dad fall into drinking again had a huge impact on his own mental health, revealing: ‘I came back and snorted and drank and shagged my way through everything.
‘There was a time right after I lost my old man from 24 to 27 where I drank every day and I did drugs and slept around and I built a horrible reputation for myself.
‘I didn’t know my a** from my elbow and I was going here, there and everywhere with no shame or morals. I had years of grief. Constant f***ing grief.’
The star, who was well-know for his partying ways, even opened up about feeling embarrassed by his wild behaviour, recalling: ‘I would walk down the street staring at the floor because I didn’t want people to say ‘there’s that pr*** Calum Best’.’

Despite the heartbreaking story behind his dad’s death, Calum is trying to move on and recently admitted to his fellow housemates that he’s keen to shake off the ‘bad-boy’ image.
Considering how popular he is in the house AND on the outside, we’d say Calum was doing a pretty great job!
