Love the iPhone 5s, but can’t afford one?

With a camera that gets even better with this new launch, the fingerprint reader and many other HOT features, the iPhone 5s is certainly a droolworthy phone.

But then, we all know that Apple’s flagships come with hefty price tags keeping them out of reach of most people.

5 Best/ Top iPhone 5S Alternatives

If you are looking for a smartphone which possesses the latest desirable features without burning a hole in your pocket, here are the 5 best iphone 5s alternatives, in no particular order:

#1. Google Nexus 5

Popular among diehard Nokia fans for providing the latest and the best features on the Android platform at the most affordable prices, the Google Nexus 5 is one of the best available options if you don’t want to spend a huge amount on the iPhone 5s.

This device runs on the KitKat version of Android, making it the first phone which comes with pre-loaded Android version 4.4.

The Nexus 5 boasts of a highly responsive 4.95 inch display with a resolution of 1920X1080 pixels. It comes loaded with an 8 MP HD rear camera and a 1.3 MP front camera.

Powered by a 800 Quad core processer and a 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, it has an inbuilt wireless charging support.

#2. Sony Xperia Z1

The Xperia Z1 by Sony is yet another remarkable cell phone. This device with a 20 megapixel camera has been getting rave reviews from almost all quarters because of its unique aluminum and glass unibody design and IP58 certification for dust and water resistance.

Though the 5 inch screen which runs on Sony’s Triluminous technology has a lot of scope for improvement, the 800 Quad core processor, the Exmor sensor and Bionz image processor more than make up for it.

With killer looks and the only camera in the market which is comparable to the ultimate camera in the Nokia Lumia’s 1020. Besides that, the camera has many more advanced features which we usually associate with the DSLR cameras manufactured by Sony, like Info eye, live video streaming and other special effects.

By virtue of its sheer looks, it is one mobile phone which we would have considered as one of the most formidable rivals to the iPhone 5S if not for the bulky design and low battery life.

Another downside associated with this is the fact that it runs on Android 4.2.

A hardcore techie or gadget freak who wants to own a device running on the latest Android version might find that disappointing.

And well, it is not too cheap either.

#3. Samsung Galaxy S4

With a Snapdragon 600 quad core processor, an amazing 13 MP camera which gives you images comparable with those by an iPhone, awesome 1920 X1080 pixel screen resolution packed into a 130 gram svelte body, this is a device every gadget freak would love to hold!!

The screen, like most of latest top end Samsung smartphones, is a huge 5 inches yet again plus the 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. This external storage is expandable upto 64GB.

Add to it the various air gestures, IR remote make it a total beauty.

The 2,600 mAh battery lasts almost a full day with moderate to heavy usage.

On the downside, some critics find the outer body flimsy for a device which, otherwise, has the most high end features. Features like eye-tracking, etc. have actually been branded as gimmicks with limited usage or utility.

Plus, the mono speaker.

Then again, with a price tag of £600, it is definitely not a cheap alternative.

#4. Nokia Lumia 1020

After a long long time, Nokia has finally come out with a device which is comparable with the best in the market and has the latest high end features which every gadget lover looks for in his cell phone.

It is sad to see that the once undisputed king of the cell phone market took so long to come up with a device which is worthy of a mention here in our list of 5 best iPhone 5s alternatives.

The most desirable feature of this device is, of course, its much talked about 41 MP camera.

Sad to see that a cell phone user should actually be choosing his device going by the camera.

I mean, come off it people!!

Camera might be ONE of the features that you look for in a phone. But you can’t make it the USP of a high end gadget like this. Can you?

After all, wont a person who spends enough to own a Nokia Lumia 1020 be able to afford a camera as well?

That said, you cant deny that the image quality is unmatched. The camera gives you features like image stabilization, xenon flash, manual focus, 4X zoom.

Other features of this phone, besides its much talked about camera, are the 4.5 inch screen which runs on a dual core processor, 2,000 mAh battery and 2 GB RAM with 32 GB non expandable storage.

The Live tiles actually help brighten up the homescreen

Since it runs on Windows 8 OS, you might miss out on some very happening free and paid Android or iPhone apps.

If you can’t resist the camera in it which is second to none, go ahead by all means.

#5. HTC One

This super awesome device comes in a quietly brilliant metallic (aluminum) finish which would put the much more expensive S4’s cheap plastic body to shame.

It comes with a 4.7 inch LCD touchscreen and a screen resolution which is the same as that of S4 (1,920X1,080 pixels) though I personally found the colors and the display of the latter much more appealing and captivating.

This device comes with a 1.7 GHz processor which is good and fast enough for an average user. It comes with a good 2,300 mAh battery which copes with moderately heavy usage and lasts a day without adding to your woes.

It further comes with super awesome features like dual stereo speakers with an inbuilt amplifier, a revamped user interface and an IR port.

One of the major downsides of this device, as with other devices rolled out by HTC, is the below par camera. Though you are promised a 4 MP back camera (and there is a huge aperture at the back which seems to suggest that it would be good this time), HTC clearly fails to deliver on this front.

Though it comes with optical image stabilization feature and gives out good, natural looking colors, the overall picture quality does not measure upto the expectations.

Another drawback of this phone is that its external memory is non-expandable and non removable as well.

Verdict

Which one of the devices listed here do you think is the most worthy alternative to the iPhone 5S if you do not want to spend in that price bracket?
