The Bihar legislative assembly elections are held in five-phases in October–November 2015 as the tenure of the current Legislative Assembly of Bihar ends on November 29, 2015. Initially, the Janata Parivar group (a group of six parties- Samajwadi Party, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal (Secular), Indian National Lok Dal and Samajwadi Janata Party (Rashtriya), announced to fight the election jointly under Nitish Kumar’s leadership which was joined by the Indian National Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party.
But later the group was left by all except JDU, RJD and INC. On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party led NDA front contested in the election alongside the Lok Janshakti Party, the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party and Hindustani Awam Morcha. All Left parties participated under the banner of Left Front. The five phase election will end on 5th November with the final phase and Bihar Election Result 2015 will be published on 8th November across the districts simultaneously. On 9 September 2015, Election Commission of India announced the dates for Bihar Assembly elections. The election was contested in five phases. Brief overview regarding the phases is provided below:
Bihar Election 2015 Phase I Result
49 assembly seats were covered in Phase I which include Samastipur,Begusarai, Teghra, Bhagalpur, Purina, Banka, Khagaria, Munger, Lakhisarai, Shekhpura, Nawada and Jamui. 583 Candidates are in the fray for First Phase Women voting percentage was 59% while Men voting percentage was 54%. Notification was published on 16th September, 2015 and election was held on 12th October.
Bihar Election Phase II Result 2015
32 assembly seats were covered in Second Phase which includes Kaimur, Rohtas, Arwal, Jahanabad, Aurangabad, and Gaya. 456 candidates including 32 women are in the fray in Phase-2. Defying Maoist threats, around 55 per cent of the voters from 32 constituencies cast their votes in the second phase of polling for the Bihar assembly elections on Friday.
The percentage of voting, which took place across six districts, was up by 3 per cent as compared to the 2010 assembly polls. Like in the first phase, female voters outnumbered their male counterparts. Polling of women voters was recorded at 57.5% and men voters was at 52.5%. Notification was published on 21st September and poll was conducted on 16th October.
Bihar Election 2015 Phase III Result
50 assembly seats were covered in Phase III which includes Saran, Vaishali, Nalanda, and Patna. Bhojpur, Buxar. Notification was published on 1st October and election was held on 28th October across the respective districts. Polling for the 50 Assembly seats in Bihar in the crucial third phase election began at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday. A total of 53.32 per cent polling was recorded till 5 p.m. across all six districts — Bhojpur, Buxar, Nalanda, Patna, Saran and Vaishali — that went to polls in this crucial phase.

Bihar Assembly Election Phase IV Result 2015
55 assembly seats will be covered in Phase IV which includes Pashim Champaran, Purvi Champaran,Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Kanti, Gopalganj, Siwan. Notification was published regarding this phase on 7th October and election was held on 1st November.
Bihar Election Phase V Result
57 assembly seats will be covered in Phase V which includes Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishangaj, Purnia, Katihar, Madhepura, Saharsa, Darbhanga. Notice for this phase was published on 8th October and election was contested on 5th November.

The ballots will be counted and the Bihar Assemble Election Result 2015 will be declared on 8 November. The five-year term of the present legislative assembly is going to end on 29 November 2015. Bihar has a total of 6.68 crore registered voters for the 2015 assembly elections. According to Election Commission of India, around 1000 Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines were used along with EVMs in 36 out of the 243 assembly seats in Bihar elections, spread over 34 districts. ECIL manufactured VVPATs will be used in 10 assembly constituencies, while BEL manufactured VVPAT will be used in 26 assembly constituencies.
Bihar elections of 2015 were webcasted for the first time and voters were able to locate their polling booth on phones via an app. About 1.5 crore voters were be informed about the poll dates via SMS. Photo voter slips would be provided to voters. They will also be notified about the Bihar Assembly Election Result 2015 through SMS besides other media. All the formalities of poll result announcement must be completed within 12th November, 2015.
New Trends in Bihar Election Result 2015
There were some new trends in this year’s election which were not associated with previous years elections. Let’s have a look at those features:
The polls were webcasted and voters were able to locate their booths through an app on their phones – a first for the state.
Bihar became the first state to introduce photo electoral rolls. Also, this could be the first elections when NRIs can cast their votes from a foreign soil..
A new cross symbol was used for NOTA (None of The Above) option on the electronic voting machines. Again, Bihar will be the first state where the Election Commission will debut it.
Drones were used by security forces for air surveillance for the first time in the state’s electoral history.

Long queues of voters were largely seen in rural areas for Bihar Assemble Election 2015. In urban areas, voters did not show much enthusiasm. It is generally said that the BJP gets its major support from urban middle class voters and ‘the grand alliance’ of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad have their supporters in rural areas.

The symbol is designed by National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The security forces used Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)/Drones, called Netras (eyes), in Bihar elections.
