PARTY DETAILS as told by Abigail…
:

I designed these party decorations for my daughter’s 13th birthday. Such a momentous occasion deserved monumental decor – complete with Marquee letter details. You heard me. Lighted, custom, marquee letters (well, numbers actually). Anyway, the party she wanted was to be able to invite some friends on a trip to the mall, shop and have dinner there, then back to our house for dessert and a sleepover. I couldn’t say yes fast enough!

On to planning… I wanted to set up a small dessert table for when we returned home from the mall. A homemade lemon cake, chocolate cake pops and 2 kinds of caramels were plenty for this crazy group of girls. I thought it would be fun for the girls to all have matching purses, and found some fairly cool cross body mini purses that they liked. Oh, and the bags HAD to have a party logo on them, right? I used my new cricut machine with my own .svg file to cut gold glitter iron on transfer sheets with an added bit of glued on bling. I needed one more driver for the evening, so my sister came along for the trip. We decided to do a little shopping of our own, and definitely some sneaky, paparazzi style photos.

While at the mall, my sister and I couldn’t help but follow them around a bit – they were so cute! Laughing and chatting and just being 13. They may or may not have noticed us sneaking around corners and peeking over racks.

We arrived home, and believe it or not, these growing teenagers wanted snacks. And water – lots and lots of water! Maybe it was all the dancing? SO much dancing! We did take a break for cake (and cake pops and caramels) and to sing, loudly, the HBD song. And did you see that cake topper? Fondant Marquee letters!

Naturally, at midnight I went to bed – but they didn’t. Who knows what time that happened! But from experience, I knew they would be up early to eat, and I knew that a waffle bar would be a hit. Fancy bowls filled with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and bananas, milk bottles with 2 kinds of syrup, jars of chocolate chips and nutella looked as good on our gold sequin tablecloth as they tasted! Orange juice with paper straws disappeared almost instantly, as did the 2 batches of waffles! Our lighted marquee letters were still hanging behind a decimated dessert table from the night before, so a poster size print out of our party logo decorated the space just right.
