From the oh so cute ”mouse eared” soccer ball treats to the locker room inspired party space, this Blue & Red Mickey Mouse Soccer Party is a GOAL! Mommy Fredricka called on Wendy of Green Beansie Ink for cute paperie, Velvet Bake Shop for one impressive cake, snapshots of the day from Mandy Lilly Photography and Mickey of course came to referee the kids soccer game!

Oh TWO-dles! I’m delighted to share pictures and details from my son’s “2nd MousekaCup” Party (think World Cup). This was such a fun party to plan, and I loved creating a new interpretation of the beloved Mickey Mouse theme. My son fell in love with Mickey Mouse shortly after turning one. He’s all boy and loves to play, so I knew his party had to offer a physical component. He recently took a Soccer Tots class and really enjoyed it, so soccer seemed like the perfect activity for his party, thus the Mickey Mouse soccer theme was born. I worked with the absolutely fabulous Wendy Oliver of Green Beansie Ink. She was so awesome and worked with me to create the paperie for the theme, without violating copyright laws. I purchased a host of Mickey Mouse soccer head die cuts from a couple of ladies on Etsy, and Wendy carefully designed the paperie to accommodate the die cuts I would later add to her designs. I was so thrilled that she was willing to think outside the box and take on the challenge of a commercial theme without violating her own design standards. Her help was absolutely integral in making my vision come to life!
The party kicked off on “the field” with a soccer activity, which included an appearance by “Mickey” himself, who served as the referee for the day. In addition to purchasing Mickey a referee jersey, we also purchased personalized t-shirt jerseys for each child. The jerseys were placed in personalized muslin favor bags (which I didn’t get pictured….ugh!….but the display was so cute!). We purchased a special jersey just for Zachary, and my husband and I wore the same jersey. We embellished our jersey with iron on Mickey soccer patches. The other portion of the kids’ “uniform” was a set of soccer Mickey Mouse ears, which I was able to easily make using Mickey Mouse ear kits and soccer ball appliqués I found on Etsy. Such cuteness!
After the “game,” everyone came back to “Team Zachary’s Locker Room” to celebrate and enjoy some snacks and sweets. To achieve a true locker room feel, we purchased two sets of old lockers off of Craigs List, and my husband painted them red. Mickey ears were added to each child’s chair and their snacks were “pre-packaged” in advance in paper mini loaf pans, complete with a Mickey Mouse shaped sunbutter and jelly sandwich, pretzels and applesauce (three of Zachary’s favorites). The pre-prepared snacks made serving super quick and easy. A must for all of my future parties! I used coordinating digital paper for the placemats, and each place setting was completed with a personalized “MousekaCup” trophy. The table centerpieces were simple–decorated Blume Boxes and balloons. I found some awesome Mickey Mouse ear latex balloons on eBay. I bought quite a few, so I was able to give each kid one as they left the party, which reminded me of the balloons we purchased for our kids at Disney World. J
The dessert table was super fun to create. The backdrop was created by Wendy Oliver, with the exception of the large Mickey Mouse soccer head die cut. The cake was designed by a fabulous local cake designer named Karina at the Velvet Bake Shop. The cake couldn’t be more perfect (and delicious)! The other dessert items were red velvet cupcakes sitting inside of some amazing silicone trophy cupcake holders, custom sugar cookies by the fabulous Tiffany Corvi at Baked Perfection, Mickey Mouse shaped rice krispie treats complete with custom fondant toppers, and soccer-themed white Couverture chocolate pops.
The kids’ favors consisted of their personalized muslin bags and shirts, Mickey soccer ears, and soft soccer balls.
I love including photo stations at my kids’ parties. I found adorable soccer themed photo props on Etsy and included sets of soccer Mickey Mouse ears.
This party was so fun, start to finish! My son is still talking about his party two months later, which warms my heart. Every morning he says he had a dream about his “Mickey Mou Burfay Potty.” He says the party was for him and that he “kick ball with Mickey.” Who says two years olds can’t appreciate a good birthday party?! J
