I think my heart grew about 3 sizes when I saw this Grinch Inspired Who-liday Party by the incredibly talented Jennifer Carver of Banner Events! I love all the whimsical & classic Christmas patterns paired together with the bright and beautiful sweets. The Grinch’s heart cookies are probably my favorite though… they are just TOO Who-tastic. We’ve got exactly one week (!) until Christmas — just enough time to add a touch of playful Who-liday charm to your own celebrations. :)
“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store? What if Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more?”
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
– Classic elements like peppermint swirls, Santa hats & glittering ornaments decorate the table
– Festive handmade door wreath + adorable mini wreaths for each guest’s milk glass
– Layered jello parfaits, ‘ornament’ cake bites, & ’Cindy Lou’ vanilla bean cupcakes
– Special cookies for Santa + chocolate-dipped krispy treats (tinted green, of course!)
– Fun wrapping paper backdrop + a framed Who-ville Christmas tree topped with a big red bow!

PARTY DETAILS as told by Jennifer…
:
“You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch.” If you aren’t familiar with that classic phrase, there’s a good chance you might be living under a rock. I’ll be honest, I love everything about the Dr. Seuss classic, from the cranky green Grinch to whimsical Whoville and the adorable Whos. A Grinch-inspired Christmas party has been on my party planning bucket list for a few years now! When the opportunity to plan and style such a party came about, I may have actually squealed, loudly.
WHO-LIDAY PARTY INSPIRATION:
Styling this party was so fun! When I think of a Who-liday Grinch party, I think of polka dots & stripes, pops of unexpected patterns like chevron, crazy shades of red & green & touches of whimsy! So when I began designing this party, that’s exactly what I included! Our Happy Who-liday party was literally inspired by a new exciting product to hit the party world, exclusively available from Smash Cake & Co — “Party Paper!”
If you’ve never heard of Party Paper, it might just be the best thing since Roast Beast or Who pudding! Not only is it a premium quality 50# matte wrapping paper, but it was designed to coordinate perfectly with Smash Cake & Co.’s boutique party ware and can be used for so many purposes from gift wrap to table runners, party backdrops, banners, rosettes, chair backers & more! In the past, I found it hard to perfectly coordinate my background fabric with cardstock, ribbon & other party décor items. But now, with one product, I can easily coordinate my entire party at a fraction of the cost in far less time! Plus, with their Party Ribbon, you can easily substitute it for things on which you would use wide ribbon.
WHO-LIDAY INVITATIONS & PRINTABLE DÉCOR:
Tonya of Soiree Event Design knocked my candy cane striped stockings off with her perfectly coordinating Who-liday printable invitation and party decor. From cupcake toppers, scroll chair backer signs, banners, favor tags & labels, folding food labels, straw/party flags & beverage wraps, there’s unlimited possibilities for your Who-liday celebrations! I love the cute wording on the invitation inviting friends to come to our Who-house at a quarter past 4 and to look for the Who wreath on our front door. (Our adorable Who wreath was hand created by the amazing Jordan of Designs by Jordan.]
WHO-LIDAY FASHION:
Our party goers arrived in Who-ish attire and accessories. I just adore the cute dresses, hair accessories, lace leggings and tie from Posh Peanuts! Necklaces for our little Cindy-Lous were handmade by Addy’s Attic and were the perfect addition to the girls’ outfits. And check out that hat! Doesn’t that just scream Who to you too? It’s amazing what a few perfectly selected accessories and pieces of clothing will do to create the perfect themed party mood!
WHO-LIDAY FEASTING:
Little Whos need a fabulous table for feasting! Using Party Paper we added an eye-catching red striped table runner to our kid-friendly dining table & spruced up boring chairs with some chair backers made from green polka dotted Party Paper topped off with red paper ribbon accents and a cute Whoville Guest scroll sign. Each place setting had a fun Christmas cracker filled with candy from Candy Galaxy (an easy DIY idea using Party Paper, ribbon & toilet paper rolls), striped color coordinating plates, polka dot napkins and stamped cutlery from the Smash Cake & Co. shop, and of course the cutest bottles of Grinch green punch decked out for the holidays. Affordable candy tree centerpieces were made from candy from Candy Galaxy hot glued to foam cones from The Dollar Tree. We made DIY mini dessert stands with candle sticks, glass plates (also from The Dollar Tree) and some Epoxy 6000 glue & accessorized them with a little party paper circle.
WHO-LIDAY SWEETS:
Every Who down in Whoville likes sweet treats a lot… But the Grinch who lived north of Whoville did not. That is, until he came to our feast. A dessert table was designed with fun Christmas treats that were displayed colorfully on a gorgeous ruffled tablecloth from Candy Crush Events. There were Cindy Lou cupcakes, Who Jell-o served in adorable dessert jars (inspired by Anders Ruff’s tutorial), ornament and present shaped cake bites & chocolate covered Oreos for Santa (both by Bella’s Bakery & Bowtique). There were chocolate-dipped Rice Krispy treats and jars of candy filled with so many red & green delights from Candy Galaxy. In the center of them all were the cutest Grinch cookies, each with a heart that had grown 3 sizes that day!
WHO-LIDAY FAVORS:
A Who-liday party must have Who favors. Darling gable boxes dressed up in holiday style (more paper ribbon & cute gable box labels & tags from Soiree Event Design) were available to each little guest to fill with treats from the dessert table & even more sweet treats from the treat hutch, where glittered laser cut candies & custom Who Hair cotton candy favors were displayed.
I would like to give a big thank you to Karina Rigtrup of A Fresh Take Photography for working her magic behind the lens and capturing the fun of the day.
