Acer Inc is partnering with Google to introduce an All-in-One (AIO) Chromebase conference system. The AIO system is already available in Google Store, starting at $799. The Taiwan-based device maker’s maiden touchscreen Chromebase for meetings PC system has been specially created to operate within small spaces, which can be huddle spaces or even spaces as cramped as a phone booth.
The solution includes all of the software, hardware and services needed in one package, along with easy administration through Chrome Device Management. Unlike Chromebox for meetings, which Google launched in 2014, this is an AIO hardware that already comes with a display. According to Engadget, the internet giant said that getting Acer Inc.’s Chromebase for meetings up and running is as easy as plugging it in and connecting it to a network.
The video conferencing system includes a 1080p, 24-inch touchscreen, which is the largest on any device running Chrome operating system; four microphones, HD conferencing camera, and two stereo speakers. Google’s Chromebox with Acer Inc., which was released in 2014, is still being offered as a video conferencing solution for larger meeting spaces.
Tech Times notes that the $799 price tag on Chromebase for meetings may sound like a sizable price, one that may be hard to swallow, as Chrome OS devices are usually affordable, coming as cheap versions of Windows hardware with comparable specs. The search giant and its partners however, market the device as cheaper option for video conferencing software, which is normally costly. Moreover, the PC also bundles one-year support and management fees in that price tag; it is a notable bargain as those services typically cost around $250.
Acer Inc Launches Desktop Computer for Video Conferences
Acer Inc. introduces Chromebase PC for video conferencing. The Taiwanese hardware and electronics company has partnered with Google to release the $799 Chromebase for meetings, an AIO standalone secure video conferencing hardware. The system is designed for businesses that require dedicated video conferencing in small executive offices or conference rooms.
Under the hood, Acer Inc.’s new desktop PC for video conferencing has an Intel Celeron dual-core processor with Google video acceleration and 4GB of RAM. Other features include HDMI, three USB 3.0 ports, SD card reader, stereo speakers, Ethernet, one USB 2.0 port, and a headphone jack mounted on the side. The mix also includes 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.
Android Headlines expressed that this is a perfect solution for when a fully operational video conferencing system is required, and especially for businesses seeking to save on space. Not to mention, the Taiwan-based company’s Chromebase for meetings runs on Google’s Chrome operating system naturally, which means it offers a great level of security and more frequent updates.
Acer Inc. has launched a new Chromebase computer dedicated to video conferencing that tracks meetings and supports 25-person Hangout sessions. The PC is Mountain View’s second video conferencing device. Chromebase for meetings is available from the Internet giant’s partners in Canada, Ireland, U.S., Australia and United Kingdom.
