Team Focus
AT&T’s new,
entrepreneurial internal procurement consulting team performs a high-impact
function within the global sourcing organization of Supply Chain & Fleet
Operations (“SCFO”). AT&T aims to fill openings on this team with motivated
problem solvers who are able to utilize their hardware engineering or software
development backgrounds to analyze a wide spectrum of products in a
cross-functional role for America’s largest telecommunications provider.
SCFO works across the
entire AT&T organization to negotiate contracts for tens of billions of dollars,
in aggregate, worth of services and products, including cutting edge
telecommunications equipment. Procurement Engineering Consultants will have the
opportunity to support AT&T SCFO’s strategic and tactical cost saving
initiatives in a variety of ways, including:
·
Generating detailed analytics and leveraging industry experience to
determine the granular costs of a vendor to provide equipment and/or software to
AT&T;
·
Performing physical analysis of complex network hardware or
detailed software function analysis to establish deign-to-value pricing;
·
Leading efforts to improve the efficiency of AT&T’s sourcing
process across a broad spectrum of programs; and
·
Serving a key role in efforts to negotiate contracts with our
suppliers.
Note that AT&T is
hiring for the following positions (descending by experience), and applicants
will be considered for the position that best fits his/her qualifications:

Associate Director of Procurement Consulting
·
Senior Procurement Engineering Consultant
·
Procurement Consulting (Engineering) Analyst
Required Qualifications
·
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering (preferably
Electrical or Mechanical), or Supply Chain
·
Technical skills: A minimum of 2 years of experience in an
engineering or software development role
·
Modeling: Ability to work with multiple sources of data, create
algorithms to aid in assumptions, data mine, etc.
·
Project Management experience:
o
Effective communication skills
o
Comfortable and effective in working across various groups that
vary from fundamentally technical to more business-oriented
o
Demonstrated capability in managing multiple projects
simultaneously and delivering against tight deadlines
Desired Qualifications
·
Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Applied
Mathematics, Economics, or Supply Chain
·
Experience predicting the cost of software projects, setting
development budgets, and/or identifying the total development effort required
to deliver software
·
5+ years of related professional experience in an engineering role
(experience as a Systems Engineer, Architect, or Software Program Manager
preferred)
·
Experience in the complete product development process, including
design and project definition, development, testing, certifications, and
production preferred
·
Embedded software development experience
·
Background in the telecommunications industry
·
Background in consulting or another highly analytical role
·
Advanced experience working with Microsoft Excel (VBA, pivots,
arrays, nested-formulas, etc.), Microsoft Access (including SQL experience),
and Microsoft PowerPoint
·
Problem Solving: Strong ability to quickly understand and apply
economic/business principles, recognize subtleties of complex problems, and
develop innovative solutions, driven or supported by data
·
Practical experience building financial, statistical, and/or other
advanced analytical models
·
Experienced in managing relationships and interacting with various
vendors active in the telecommunications space
The best candidates will be
aggressive, effective communicators who can understand strategic incentives and
integrate business acumen with their robust knowledge of software development
or hardware engineering to solve complex business problems.
