Following the opening of the first Ducati dealership in Malaysia, Welly Sungai Buloh marks another milestone as it completes the final stages for its upcoming North Eastern China Adventure 2013 astride the Multistrada 1200 ST. Aided by the support of Ducati Malaysia (Next Bike Sdn Bhd), the adventure tour across North-Eastern China scheduled for August will cover a distance of 5,168km in a span of 23 days.
Led by Ducati Welly Sg Buloh's owner and operator, Ngo Yoke Kwang (Kwang), the exclusive endeavour will comprise 12 riders, all riding the Multistrada 1200 ST motorcycles). The bikes were loaded into a special shipping container provided by the tour’s logistics partner, Peninsula Freight Services Sdn Bhd (PFS) at the firm’s headquarters in Klang. The bikes will soon begin their freight journey to the tour’s starting point in Tianjin, China - a process that will take approximately three weeks.
Besides the dozen units of the Ducati Multistradas, the entourage also features the participation of a unit of Ducati's Hyperstrada, which will be introduced in Malaysia later this year. The 23-day adventure tour, which kicks off from Tianjin in North Eastern China on August 28, will take the group riding across the region’s most notable sites before it ends at the city of Dalian on September 16.
After successfully organised numerous expedition rides across other parts of China and the Asean region (Laos, Thailand, Cambodia) since 2001, this will be Kwang’s first time in leading an adventure tour across North Eastern China.
Kwang states that this trip would be a challenge even for him personally, adding, “The region’s lesser population mass and challenging routes will undoubtedly be difficult to tackle, but I’m confident the breathtaking scenery and sites there would be something the riders will truly appreciate.”
Highlights of the adventure tour include a ride along the 100km-long ‘Red Beach’ via Panjin, followed by a ride through the Greater Khingan Mountains towards Heihe city in the Heilongjiang Province, as well as a visit to the Yalu River Bridge. Other notable activities scheduled in the tour include visits to the North Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty, riding across the region’s famed Three River Plains’ golden rice fields, and a tour up in the republic’s largest barrier lake that is surrounded by thick-forested hills all-round, Jingpo Lake.
