TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — After almost a three-week search, the University of Alabama looks ready to name its next baseball coach.

Reports Thursday afternoon have mentioned Louisiana Tech head coach Greg Goff will be the next head coach of the Crimson Tide after only two seasons coaching the Bulldogs. In those two years, Goff complied a record of 67-47, leading the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament this season before losing in the Starkville Regional.

Goff has been a head coach for 12 years, beginning his career at Montevallo in 2004. He set the school record for wins in back-to-back seasons in 2006 and 2007 before being hired to coach at Campbell after the 2007 season.

Goff spent seven seasons coaching the Fighting Camels, going 224-174. Overall as a Division-1 head coach, his record is 291-221.

Goff will be replacing Mitch Gaspard, who resigned May 30th after Alabama failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. Gaspard led the Tide for six seasons before stepping down last month.
