MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Starting right after Thanksgiving, the U.S. Postal service will go into high gear to make sure mailed holiday gifts are delivered on time.
From November 30th through Christmas day, postal carriers will begin delivering packages seven days a week to a large number of cities.
“The Postal Service ships more packages to more places than anyone else,” said District Manager Jeffery A. Taylor. “During the holidays, we’re raising the bar with enhanced tracking and Sunday delivery providing excellent service and reliability that only Santa can compete with.”
Select ZIP Codes in the following local cities will be included in the Postal Service’s Sunday delivery efforts:
Belle Glade, Big Pine Key, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Carol City, Clewiston, Coconut Creek, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Coral Springs, Dania, Davie, Deerfield, Delray Beach, Florida City, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Pierce, Greenacres, Hallandale, Hialeah, Hialeah Lakes, Hollywood, Hobe Sound, Homestead, Inverrary, Jensen Beach, Jupiter, Jupiter Farms, Key Biscayne, Key Largo, Key West, Lake Worth, Loxahatchee, Margate, Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Miramar, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Oakland Park, Okeechobee, Opa Locka, Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Palm City, Palmetto Lakes, Pembroke Pines, Plantation, Pompano, Port St. Lucie, Princeton, Riviera Beach, South Miami, Stuart, Summerland Key, Sunrise, Surfside, Tamarac, Tequesta, Wellington, West Hollywood Hills, West Palm Beach, Weston
Due to continued growth in people buying gifts online, the Postal Service is expecting a double-digit increase in its package business this holiday season, likely in the range of 450 to 470 million packages. That equates to roughly 12 to 14 percent growth over the same period last year.
For those wanting their cards and packages to arrive by Christmas, the Postal Service recommends keeping the following mailing and shipping deadlines in mind:
• Dec. 2 – First-Class Mail International/Priority Mail International
• Dec. 10 – Priority Mail Express International
• Dec. 15 – Standard Post
• Dec. 17 – Global Express Guaranteed
