EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) –– Investigators on the case of a deadly shooting on the Atlantic City Expressway say it was not a random act.

They say they are now looking into whether more people are involved.

Philadelphia Police tell Eyewitness News that a man showed up to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania last night who is somehow related to the shooting yesterday.

Police say the man was taken to Southwest Detectives and charged with making a false report.

No word on how he is related to the shooting.

Yesterday, it was a startling scene for patrons of the Wawa in Egg Harbor Township.

“It’s crazy, I’ve never,” said Brenda Morales. “It’s sad. It’s sad. To even look at it is sad. It’s unbelievable.”

In full view they saw an SUV riddled with bullet holes, its window and tire blown out.

Inside, four men were shot and looking for help.

It was just one of four scenes in South Jersey that police investigated yesterday.

Police say the men in the SUV were involved in a shooting in the eastbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway near mile marker 11.

Shortly after the SUV showed up, troopers located a car on the Garden State Parkway north of the expressway exit.

“That vehicle was pulled over, it had a driver who was uninjured,” said Captain Stephen Jones, “but unfortunately it had a male passenger who was fatally injured. He had been shot in the head.”

Police say the two groups had some sort of connection to one another, but they are not saying what at this time.

Meanwhile, police located weapons from a third location close to the scenes. They also shut down part of the AC Expressway last night to investigate.

Police are also looking into whether more people and more vehicles are involved.

They have not yet released a motive for the shooting, but they say what happened here was not random.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the men involved.

Those taken to the hospital for treatment are all men under the age of 40.
