Themed- ‘For A Smarter Tomorrow’ , Sri Lanka’s premier ICT exhibition organized by the Federation of ICT Industry Sri Lanka( FITIS) will be held from24th- 26th Oct 2014 at BMICH, Colombo.
Being the flagship event of FITIS, INFOTEL has evolved to be the largest technology exhibition held in Sri Lanka and is patronized by business men in all industry sectors, academics in all disciplines of knowledge,ICT enthusiasts, ICT Career seekers, and general public who are increasingly becoming aware of ICT applications as a way of life. The exhibition will be featuring the widest range of ICT solutions and services and provides a lucrative platform for new business opportunities.
The Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, Hon. RanjithSiyambalapitiya was the Chief Guest at theofficial Launch of the INFOTEL 2014 at Water’s Edge, on 31st July 2014. He acknowledged the efforts made by FITIS to support the government in it’s initiatives to make Sri Lanka the Knowledge Hub of Asia and said that this year’s exhibition will mobilize the resources available and showcase their technological advancements and innovations and also will help to create awareness of these technological developments that challenge our society in the years to come and help us to be competitive in the global arena.

A special program for ICT career seekers is being conducted with the support of ICTAgency, SLASSCOM and the Ministry of Education bringing in over 5000 students and ICT teachers to eight hourly sessions of Career guidance workshops specially designed to stress the importance of ICT and to direct future generation to a healthy information society. The sessions will be taking place on 24th October at Committee hall A and Nugasewana at BMICH. Students and Teachers from National, International & Private Schools and other Institutes have been invited to these seminars.
The Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka as the Platinum Partner is showcasing their Student Innovations bringing in students from all over the country to the Exhibition.Colonel Dharshana Ratnayake, Chairman -Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka reiterated the role of VTASL as “the trusted partner, for reaching the unreached – with a network covering each and every corner of the country. ICT has also been taken to grass root levels in every nook and corner of the country. When used intelligently and innovatively, ICT forms an integral component of the development projects.”
