Gunners should get rid of dead-wood and contract rebels.

Check-In to West Ham v Arsenal

Arsenal have begun the current campaign with real purpose and though the North London club's unbeaten record was ended by Chelsea on the weekend there are certainly signs of improvement at the Emirates Stadium. However this is not to say that Arsene Wenger couldn't do with a serious squad re-shuffle, and with that in mind here is an entire XI that the Gunners boss could happily look to offload.

Bacary Sagna

The French international gave a fairly honest assessment of the club's decision to sell Alex Song to Barcelona in the summer, in short, he wasn't happy. Now that is clearly fair enough but it also appears that efforts to tie down the right-back to a new contract are not going to plan.

Having suffered two broken legs last term Arsenal had to force youngster Carl Jenkinson in at the deep end and the former Charlton Athletic man has taken the plunge with great vigour. Indeed if Sagna was to return from the sidelines right now then he would struggle to unseat the 20 year old defender.

There has been talk of a great deal of interest in the 29 year old former Auxerre man with Inter Milan apparently very keen on the experienced full-back. If a decent offer were to be made either in January or next summer then Wenger should think long and hard about cashing in on Sagna.

We are talking about a player nearing 30 who doesn't appear to be all that happy with life at Arsenal, so if a contract can not be agreed by the time the transfer window re-opens then perhaps a decent offer would be considered by the North London club.

Theo Walcott

Arsene Wenger may well feel it is time to consider offers for the 23 year old England winger, he has said as much in recent interviews relating to the winger's contract talks.

Apparently the Gunners are not ready to give in the to the demands of a player who has not proven himself worthy of being in a bargaining position. As such the wide-man has found himself frozen out of first team affairs, making just one Premier League start thus far this term.

Wenger can also be further buoyed by the form shown by Gervinho and the emergence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, which could all point towards the Arsenal boss being open to offers to offload the former Southampton man in January instead of waiting to see Walcott leave for nothing next summer, something the prudently run club will surely not consider an option.

Andrei Arshavin

Andrei Arshavin did not join Arsenal on their Asian tour and that appears to have signaled the death knell to the Russian's Arsenal career and thus far the winger has played just 13 minutes of Premier League football this term.

A number of Premier League sides are said to be keen on the 31 year old who may well elect to stay in the Premier League given that his family have settled in England.

Fulham are said to be in prime position to land the winger, who is also being chased by former club Zenit St Petersburg. Though Wenger spent a club record £15m on Arshavin he is likely to accept half that fee now.

Following an impressive Euro 2008 Arshavin was touted as one of the best players in Europe but his three and a half years at Arsenal have seen more lows than highs, though his four goal haul at Anfield will long be remembered.

Sebastien Squillaci

Wenger has been attempting to sell Sebastien Squillaci for the best part of a year, such has been his disastrous spell at the Emirates Stadium.

The veteran defender has looked off the pace and out of his depth, and Wenger would surely be keen to sell the French international for next to nothing.

The former Sevilla man was apparently a target of newly promoted side Bastia though they are said to be reluctant to meet the centre back's pay demands.

Nicklas Bendtner

Dane is on loan at Juventus but it would be a miracle if he plays an active role for the Serie A title holders but he is surely a player that Arsene Wenger can afford to lose permanently. The big forward has never made an impact at Arsenal and is now some way down the striking pecking order.

If the 24 year old ever plays for the Gunners again it would be a massive surprise given that his last Arsenal start came in March 2011.

Park Chu-Young

The South Korean striker is said to have disappointed Arsene Wenger and the Gunners boss was ready to offload the 26 year old permanently in the summer but no interested party made a good enough offer.

The 27 year old has therefore been loaned out to Celta Vigo for the season.

Despite a genuine lack of striking talent, aside from Robin Van Persie, at the club last term the 26 year old has played just six minutes of Premier League football thus far, illustrating how little faith the manager has in the forward.

Denilson

Brazilian is back on loan at Sao Paulo for the second successive season and one would imagine that Arsene Wenger would've accepted any decent permanent offer for the midfielder, but it seems such an offer was not forthcoming this summer.

Denilson initially impressed when he first burst onto the scene and made 51 appearances in 2008/09 before a period of very average form saw him pushed out of the first team picture. Last appearance for the Gunners first team came in March 2011.

Wenger wouldn't expect to attain much from the sale of the 24 year old but would probably accept a nominal fee to remove him from the club's balance sheet.

Marouane Chamakh, much like Park Chu-Young, will find himself further down the Arsenal striking pecking order and after managing just one Premier League goal in 18 months the Moroccan will surely be made available to prospective interested parties.

The former Bordeaux man cost Arsenal nothing when he arrived in the summer of 2010 but Wenger is keen to rid the club of his reported £60k a week salary. As yet no concrete offers have been made for the 28 year old but there is speculation that a number of Ligue 1 sides are ready to register their interest.

Arsene Wenger was apparently ready to listen to offers for Chamakh this summer and Besiktas were looking to land the player for an initial loan deal that could well have led to a permanent switch to the Turkish side according to the Metro but that deal never came to fruition.

Chamakh has not played a single minute of Premier League football this term.

Johan Djourou

There is no doubting Johan Djourou's commitment and there are few players more determined that the Swiss defender but the 25 year old is simply not good enough to make an impact at a side who are looking to land major honours.

There would have been some hope that the big defender would mature and grow into a more competent performer but it simply hasn't happened. Djourou was used on occasion to fill full-back gaps following an injury crisis last term and he was once again well out of his depth.

Surely if any side made a decent offer for Djourou then it would have been swiftly accepted.

Lukasz Fabianski

Wojciech Szczesny is a country mile ahead of Fabianski in Arsene Wenger's plans and the good form shown by Vito Mannone when called upon this term will leave the 26 year old Pole as something of a spare third wheel.

Wenger could happily look to offload the player and draw on his youth and reserve side for a possible third choice custodian.

Sanchez Watt

Arsene Wenger has a good track record of making the most of young talent but it does seem that Sanchez Watt has missed the boat. It is now fully three years since the young attacker was named on the bench for the Champions League encounter with Standard Liege and the 21 year old has still not played a single minute of Premier League football indeed the last time he played for the Gunners first team was back in December 2009.

Time to move on.
