*Job Summary:*
Assists physicians, patients and visitors in the outpatient specialty clinic area, Answers the phone, schedules patients, works with physicians, takes vital signs, assembles patient charts, creates Dr. lists, faxes correspondence and performs general office work.

*Essential Duties:*

* Practices within the scope of license.
* Maintains competencies required for the position
* Schedules clinic visits electronically for patients referred by the attending physician.
* Answers telephone and gives information to callers.
* Assists physicians, patients and visitors.
* Compiles new charts, maintains current charts and files, in the appropriate place, the discharge records of out-patients who are seen in clinic.
* Prepares and maintains a schedule of patients who will be seen in the out-patient clinic using computer scheduling software.
* Obtains needed medical records from in house or other facilities when needed for outpatient clinic services.
* Secures and maintains the physical facilities, equipment and supplies which are required to carry out effective patient care and create an optimum physical environment.
* Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administration.
* Interacts professionally with patient/family. Consults other departments, as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and create and performance improvement activities.
* Promotes effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.
* Assists with staff education.
* Promotes and advances hospital-community relationships and participates in community affairs.
* Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
* Actively participates in quality improvement activities.
* Completes other duties as assigned.
* Verifies and edits personal information such as address, emergency contact, direct deposit, and W4 information online via HR Payroll Connection.

Hours: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday

**Qualifications:**

* Education and/or Experience: *

* High School graduate
* LPN in good standing currently licensed to practice in the state of Nebraska
* Previous medical background with management experience preferred * Skills/Knowledge: *

* Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
* Additional languages desirable.
* Good computer skills; experience in electronic scheduling preferred
* Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
