**Description:**
*Job Summary:*
This job is responsible forproviding professional nutritionist services (nutritional status and needs assessment, planning, counseling, and education) for individuals and groups for purposes of health maintenance. Responsible for providing nutritional education to the medical and general community via forums, screenings, and publication.
Key contacts include: physicians to identify appropriate patient nutrition plans; RD staff and other department personnel to coordinate dietary care in compliance with modified diet order; Department director to participate in staff development; and patients and families to educate and counsel on nutrition principles, diet regimens, and food selections and preparations based on diagnosis.
*Essential Duties:*
* Assesses, plans and implements the delivery of nutritional care to patients in collaboration with the inter-disciplinary team. Develops, maintains and modifies patient’s nutrition plan per department standards.
* Collaborates and communicates effectively with the IDT which may include participating in patient rounds and discharge planning. May communicate patient’s nutritional needs to the diet office.
* Provides nutritional counseling and education to individuals and/or groups. Develops, organizes and offers forums and classes on nutritional education within the facility and the community at large.
* Documents nutrition care in accordance with department-specific standards.
* Delegates and assigns tasks to other care team members (e.g., Nutrition Assistants and Clinical/Educational Diet Techs). Provides management with feedback regarding delegate’s performance.
* Promotes nutrition services to all appropriate individuals and groups as applicable to assigned area.
* Performs related duties as required.
**Qualifications:**
*Education: *
* Bachelor’s degree isrequired with a major in nutrition and dietetics preferred.
* Completion of internship, traineeship, or coordinated undergraduate program with consequential qualification for dietetic registration preferred.
*Experience:*
* One (1) year recent experience in clinical dietetics in a hospital setting.
*License/Certification:*
* Licensure by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics as a Registered Dietitian is required.
* Licensure by the State as a Licensed Dietitian (LD) is required.
* Membership in the American Dietetic Association is preferred.
