**Description:**
Coordinates staff and operation of daily imaging services to ensure quality patient care and service delivery in an efficient, cost controlled manner. Maintains work flow of the imaging department. Responsible for performing CT procedures to ensure quality patient care. Works with all age populations in caring for patients, excluding neonates. This document is only a description/performance appraisal that states the performance expectations of this position and provides a tool for rating that performance. The major responsibilities have been listed below. At times the employee may be assigned other duties.

1. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.

1.1 Performs a comprehensive assessment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients to assess the physiological needs specific to the age of the patient served.

1.2 Demonstrates knowledge related to age appropriate behavior of pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics to assess the growth and development of the patient.

1.3 Demonstrates ability to provide medical treatment based tested knowledge of drug therapy and treatments related to the age specific requirements of pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

1.4 Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of equipment utilized to perform the essential functions of the job.

2. Performs procedures to ensure quality patient care.

2.1 Conducts patient examinations according to established procedures with 90% accuracy.

2.2 Assist physician with special procedures utilizing special equipment.

2.3 Demonstrates accurate positioning, and knowledge of Cat Scan anatomy 90% of the time.

2.4 Prepares imaging devices and needed supplies in accordance with prescribed procedures.

3. Prepares and directs patients for diagnostic examinations.

3.1 Checks patients ID band 100% of the time prior to exam.

3.2 Verifies orders in chart, requisition, and documents clinical history prior to all exams.

3.3 Always explains procedure before exam and obtains signed consent form.

3.4 Always explains post-op care to patient after each examination.

4. Participates in hospital and department quality assurance to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

4.1 Follows established quality assurance monitoring requirements as documented in quality assurance logs 85% of the time.

4.2 Provides radiation protection to patients, staff, and self according to prescribed safety standards.

4.3 Performs daily safety, warm up, and control checks for each radiographic room/equipment assigned.

4.4 Practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination to patients, staff, and self according to infection control policies.

5. Maintains professional development and education for technical competency.

5.1 Attends 75% of the departmental in the service programs as documented by sign-in sheets.

5.2 Attends 80% of the hospital education, information, and training programs as assigned by the supervisor, Administrator, or Human Resources as documented by the sign-in sheets.

5.3 Maintains current knowledge of CPR, disaster, fire and safety plans as verified by appropriate documentation and evaluation.

5.4 Maintains certification and licensure requirements as determined by governing agencies.

5.5 Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all equipment within assigned area.

6. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department to ensure quality, accuracy, and best use of resources.

6.1 Functions in other department capacities as directed by supervisor or administrator as dictated by department workload needs.

6.2 Functions as emergency call technologist on a rotational basis as assigned.

6.3 Completes all necessary procedures each day, and working overtime as necessary.

6.4 Maintains and replenishes supplies and linens in assigned work area at the beginning and end of each day with no more than 12 verified omissions annually.

6.5 Functions as multi imaging technologist in department as assigned.

6.6 Maintains department records to ensure account documentation.

7. Demonstrates complete working knowledge of equipment within assigned area.

7.1 Demonstrates competency and proficiency with Cat Scan equipment (injector, computer, film changer) and equipment in various locations in diagnostic (ER, fluoroscopy, mobile x-ray procedures).

7.2 Demonstrates knowledge and location of all ancillary and emergency patient care equipment (O2, suction, crash carts, defibultor/monitor) as documented on orientation check list located in each room.

7.3 Demonstrates working knowledge of all accessory equipment (EKG, film processing techniques).

7.4 Any immobilization should be explained to patient or responsible party and necessity there of so as to avoid liability. Competently arranges, attaches or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices such as sandbags, binders, and ankle supports to obtain precise position to prevent patient form moving and to lessen discomfort.

7.5 Reviews patient condition and determines the proper exposure factor for each radiograph, calculates proper voltage current and exposure time, selects proper film, and places proper markers on cassettes, refers to department manuals as needed.

7.6 Maintains cleanliness of work environment and equipment (carts, table, cassettes, injector) prior to patient use to ensure proper infection control.

8. Assists in delivering high quality health care services in a professional, compassionate, and courteous

manner while respecting the dignity and individuality of each person who comes in contact with the
organization by following the Standards of Excellence, the Standards of Behavior, and the Standards
of Professional Appearance and Conduct.

8.1 Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times according to established procedures.

8.2 Follows the Standard of Professional Appearance and Conduct and the JHHS departmental

dress code.

8.3 Communicates effectively and courteously answering assigned telephone lines within three rings

identifying self at all times.

8.4 Assists visitors and patients in giving directions and information.

8.5 Communicates effectively and courteously with all visitors, physicians, patients and employees.

8.6 Introduces self and position to patient, families and visitors at all times.

8.7 Assesses environment for safety hazards which could harm patients, visitors, or other hospital

employees, and report hazards to appropriate supervisors.

8.8 Collaborates with either departments and outside agencies to meet the identified needs of the

patients and the organization.

9. Knowledge and performance of the Code of Conduct Standards.

9.1 The incumbent demonstrates a commitment to a high level of professional and ethical standards in his/her daily activities, consistent with the Code of conduct and related JHHS policies.

9.2 The incumbent maintains integrity in business activities by following legal standards, maintaining confidentiality of patient and business information and reporting known or suspected misconduct.

9.3 The incumbent has completed the required annual general compliance training and any department-specific training, as appropriate.

**Qualifications:**
*Education:* Associate Degree in Radiology

*Licensure:* American Registry of Radiologic Technology in CT

*Experience: ***Two years CT experience is required.
