ラリー＆レス・エルガート楽団は50年代のアメリカ・ポピュラー音楽を代表するオーケストラのひとつです。当時の日本でも大いに流行し、ジルバのバック・ミュージックなどにも使われたとのことです。このCDはレスと離れたラリーが改めて結成した自身のオーケストラによる作品。「NEW SOUNDS AT THE ROOSEVELT」と「Music from the Broadway Hit Production SARATOGA」という2枚のカップリングです。“軽音楽”に分類されることもあるラリー楽団ですが、アル・コーンを始めとするアレンジャーがモダン・ジャズのテイストを付け加えています。 (jazzyellより)
