Welcome To The Dartmoor School Of Fly Fishing

Fun For All Ages And Skill Levels!

Welcome to the Dartmoor School of Fly Fishing. We specialise in offering fly fishing tuition and guiding on Dartmoor for beginners through to advanced. Let the Dartmoor School of Fly Fishing be your gateway to fly fishing in Devon.

Our fly fishing school is located on the edge of Dartmoor on the outskirts of the attractive market town of Moretonhampstead. We are unique in having a private lake for beginners to learn to fly fish and are just a 10 minute drive away from the picturesque Kennick lake where we can offer specialised fly fishing tuition and guiding.

“We are unique in having a private lake for beginners to learn to fly fish”

Kennick is the perfect place to tackle a larger still water and to learn to fish from a boat using both modern and traditional loch style techniques for the first time. At just over 50 acres it is also large enough to be a challenge for the seasoned angler.

We are also extremely lucky in having the expanse and wilderness of Dartmoor and its many rivers on our doorstep. The Cherry Brook, The River Swincombe along with the East and West Dart to name just a few of our Dartmoor rivers and are amongst the most stunning and peaceful locations in the world to cast a fly for wild brown trout.

With so many miles of small, tumbling, crystal clear streams to explore, stealth and presentation are everything and it can often be a daunting prospect to know where and how to fish these beautiful wilderness streams.

We are lucky that our many years of experience fishing these moor land streams has allowed us to build up an extensive knowledge of where to head and the best place to fish.

We take great pride in knowing exactly how the rivers and streams are fishing, making your day a fun and fish filled experience.

Our team of fly fishing instructors and guides have been carefully selected for their ability to communicate their knowledge with ease and to make the learning process a simple and enjoyable one.

As fly fishers ourselves we enjoy nothing more than walking and casting a fly on the many miles of fishing the moors have to offer. We’ve been fishing up here all of our lives and have unsurpassed knowledge of the vast expanse of fishing available.

So if you would like to try fly fishing for the first time, learn how to fish a large lake like Kennick, small still water or learn how to fish one of the small streams of Dartmoor then call or email us today; the office is always open and we are extremely happy to answer any questions you may have.

For more information please feel free to drop us an email or call us on 01363 82786 even if it is just to talk fishing!
