Porsche’s newest SUV, the Macan created some ripples when it was first launched in India. Now making it more accessible, Porsche has launched the Macan R4, which is the most affordable car with the Porsche badge on it. The SUV is priced at Rs. 76.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharastra).

The new Porsche Macan R4 is powered by a 1,984cc naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum of 248.5 BHP of maximum power between 5,000 and 6,800 rpm. The torque maximises at 370 Nm from 1,600-4,500 rpm. The power is distributed to all the wheels through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Porsche says that the Macan R4 can reach a top speed of 229 km/h and can reach 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.

The Macan R4 gets similar interiors like the other variants of the SUV. There are no distinctive changes to the car. The SUV also gets a long list of standard equipment that includes tyre pressure monitoring system, electrically folding exterior mirrors, three-zone automatic climate control, 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat, lane departure warning, cruise control, PCM infotainment system and automatic tail gate opening system.

The Macan R4 also gets PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) that makes the ride much more comfortable. 18-inch wheels, a multifunction steering wheel and much more.

The SUV also comes with a host of optional equipment like the bi-Xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, panoramic sunroof, matt aluminium finished roof rails, 21-inch wheels and Porsche’s Connect Plus system that gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options.

Porsche dealerships have already started taking bookings at Rs. 10 lakh. Porsche’s decision to bring the SUV with below 3.0-litre will give a lot of tax advantage to the company. Porsche’s competitors are already assembling their products and India that give them a bigger tax advantage. Soon, the company will bring the 2.0-litre engine with the 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxter.
