Indian market is not very open to changes. Even though manufacturers try to bring in exciting models in the market, the customers do not respond to them very well. Here are ten such AWESOME cars that we should be buying more!
Ford Figo 1.5 diesel
The new generation Figo is a revelation. Even though the car does not get that sharp handling of the older Figo, the new one has become more of a complete package. With the stylish American looks of the vehicle, the Figo is also powered by a 1.5-liter four cylinder diesel engine that churns out a maximum of 98.6 BHP of maximum power.
The Figo’s light weight makes it one of the fastest diesel hatchbacks in the country. The Figo handles well, has enough power and is quick with loads of low-end torque. What’s more, it’s brute value for money as it’s much cheaper than the competition. Prices for the Figo diesel start from 5.71 lakh rupees.
Abarth Punto
The Abarth Punto is the first affordable ‘true’ hot hatchback that the Indian market received. The car is powered by a 1.4-litre 16-valve T-Jet petrol engine that churns out a maximum of 145 BHP at 5,500 rpm along with 212 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm.
The high-class performance of the vehicle is augmented by the amazing handling and suspension set-up of the vehicle. The Abarth Punto is the cheapest Abarth that you can buy in India. And for the kind of performance on offer, the Abarth Punto is priced very well. This is a big car killer for small car money.
Chevrolet Cruze
Chevrolet Cruze is a diesel rocket that no one wants in the market. The 2.0-litre engine of the Cruze belts out a healthy 380 Nm of torque. Mixed with 164 BHP of maximum power, the Chevrolet Cruze can fly low on the ground. The Cruze is also the most affordable car in its segment. Prices start from 13.4 lakhs. A torque bomb going cheap, that’s what the Cruze is all about.
Renault Duster AWD
The Duster AWD is a well rounded vehicle that makes it an excellent option for cross country touring. The Duster AWD comes with a lot more features than the regular version. To start with, the AWD model comes with an extra safety net and of course the robust AWD system that engages automatically when it senses the loss of traction. The AWD version of the utility vehicle has not been very popular on the road due to its extra price, but the improved capabilities and handling of the car are reason enough to see it more often on the road.
Tata Tiago
The tiny car from Tata has helped the company to overtake Honda in the sales number. Even though Tata sells around 4,000 to 6,000 units per months and is the best selling Tata model in the country, we feel that Tiago should sell more. The entry-level hatchback gets some premium looks, good quality and peppy performance.
In other words, the Tiago is much better than the WagonR and Celerio in terms of features, space and performance. Adding to the whole package is the price tag, which undercuts all the rivals in the segment. We do see a lot of Tiagos on the road, but we would not mind seeing more of it.
