As we get close to an all-new year, there is a long list of big, bad SUVs waiting to hit the Indian market. We bring you 10 SUV launches of 2017.

Jeep Compass

The entry of Jeep brand was definitely a big thing for the Indian market but the expensive price tag it came with calmed down all the enthusiasm that surrounded Jeep. Come 2017, Jeep’s all-new SUV will embark the Indian roads, in a bid to broaden the brand’s horizons. The SUV has been already unveiled in the Brazilian market and it will be locally manufactured in India from second half of 2017.

The local manufacturing of the Compass will allow the company to price the SUV very competitively. The Compass will be Jeep’s cheapest product in India when launched, and will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the Skoda Yeti. Expect a sub-20 lakh rupee price tag for the new vehicle.

Skoda Kodiaq

This is the first ever 7-seater SUV from Skoda and it has been confirmed for the Indian launch by August or September next year. The car design mimics the Audi’s flagship SUV – the Q7, and is uber luxurious.

It will be built on Skoda’s MQB platform and will feature plenty of gizmos. The soft-roader will feature 4WD, and will come with a price tag of around Rs. 30 lakh in the Indian market.

Isuzu MU-X

The brute looking SUV from Isuzu will replace the current MU-7 next year. Isuzu has already begun testing the car in India. The MU-X will be built on the I-GRIP platform and will feature a 4X4 transfer case with a shift-on-the-fly feature. In the international market, the car is powered by two engine options, 1.99-litre 150BHP and 3.0-litre 177-BHP engine options. India is likely to get the latter, with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Honda WR-V

Honda is yet to enter the compact SUV segment in India where almost all other manufactures are present and selling their products successfully. Honda announced that it is developing an SUV based on the Jazz platform and it will launched next year in India. The sub 4-metre SUV will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport and Maruti Vitara Brezza and will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.

Tata Nexon

The Nexon will be the Tata’s ticket to enter the compact SUV segment in India. Tata showcased the Nexon during the Auto Expo earlier this year and given the way Tata is moving forward, it seems like the Nexon could be the next big thing from the Tata brand. The car has been caught testing already and Tata will bring the vehicle by mid 2017. The Nexon will get a new range of 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines for India.
