The CarStories Podcast and Petersen Automotive Museum took their annual week long road trip up the coast for the 2015 Monterey Car Week. While up there, they debuted upcoming exhibits, won the “French Cup” for their 1939 Bugatti Type 57C and interviewed many celebrities, race car drives, automotive executives and enthusiasts.

The road trip started off with a drive up in a BMW M4 convertible, where Petersen Chief Curator Leslie Kendall previewed the upcoming week ahead.

The Carmel Mission Classic was the first event of the week. The Petersen’s Ghia-bodied Cadilliac, once owned by Rita Hayworth was the centerpiece of the show.

The party got going at Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival, where the all-new Ford GT was paired up with the Petersen’s 1967 Ford GT40 MKIII. CarStories spoke with Keanu Reeves about Arch Motorcycle Company, Mecum Auction’s John Kraman and took an in-depth tour of the Lykan Hypersport.

Friday afternoon was spent at The Quail, where time was equally spent marveling over the 100s of elegant cars and the sampling the exquisite food.

Saturday started off with a laugh at the Concours D’LeMons. Its a truly fun car show that they describe as “celebrating the Oddball, Mundane and truly Awful of the automotive world.”

After LeMons, it was off to the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. CarStories spoke with BMW North America CEO Ludwig Willisch, Henry Ford III, Mazda’s Jeremy Barnes and Acura’s Dave Marek.

The best was definitely saved for last. Sunday was spent at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. There, CarStories spoke with Jay Leno, Wayne Carini, Bobby Rahal and many more about what brought them out to the 18th hole of Pebble Beach for the biggest car event of the year. The Petersen’s 1939 Bugatti Type 57C by Vanvooren competed in the “European Classic Late” class. Proudly, the Petersen took home the “French Cup” for the most significant car of French origin.
