I’ve been meaning to link-up with Five Favorites for years. YEARS. But posting about a certain thing on a certain day…it just stresses out the P of my ENFP. So I’ve never managed it. But! Ta da! Five favorites here I come! (And check out the other posts at Jenna’s blog, Call Her Happy.)

# 1: Start with a cup of coffee or tea. Before I do anything else, I turn on the electric kettle to make a cuppa. Instant mood lifter! That laundry mountain doesn’t look quite as overwhelming as it did pre-caffeine!

#2: Love your cleaning products. I recently have found two revolutionary cleaning motivators. I’ve never cared about cleaning products much (other than not wanting anything toxic.) But I’ve never LOVED cleaning products until I discovered Norwex. I bought a few of their Enviro-cloths from a friend who is a distributor and now I’m spoiled for any other microfiber clothes forever. Just add warm water and these babies clean SO WELL and even antibacterialize your surface without any cleaning product whatsoever. I know. It’s like magic. Do I know how exactly it works? Nope. But they make me want to clean and that is…..unprecedented. When I first was trying them out, I cleaned my whole kitchen and then was like….I cannot wait to see how they make my bath tub sparkly. Trust me…not my usual.

I also fell deeply in love with ePantry after hearing my lovely friend Anne of Modern Mrs. Darcy rave about them. They send all kinds of household products to your doorstep for a great price. I can finally afford the Mrs. Meyers lavender stuff that smells like heaven. I haven’t run out of baby wipes since I subscribed so…..win! AND it was all so pretty when it arrived that it merited a complete cabinet re-organization so I could see all my lovelies lined up in there. Definitely check them out. Great customer service. Great price. Don’t have to leave my house for unexpected we’re out of dish soap emergencies anymore.

UPDATE: Well the good folks at ePantry saw that I had mentioned them and want to offer a deal to the Carrots readers (yay!). If you sign up throughmy Carrots link, you’ll get $10 credit AND a free bottle of Mrs. Meyers multi-surface spray (I just used mine today–lavendar scent–and it smells AMAZING). So hooray!

#3: Light a candle. I’m currently in love with the ePantry Maple Sugar scented soy candle. It smells AMAZING. As in, we had a playdate over here yesterday and whenever someone came in the door the first thing they said was “what IS THAT AMAZING SMELL?” Because wow. They’re out of stock at ePantry due to bad weather and shipping issues, (I chatted with the helpful live chat customer service rep because we used up the candle and I was a little bit desperate) but I was assured they will get some more in the near future. I don’t usually like scented candles, the maple sugar is an exception, and I tend to just get beeswax (I love Toadily Handmade Beeswax Candles for those). Light a candle. Suddenly housecleaning got all fancy and less horrible!

#4: Listen to something wonderful. I either pump up the jams (you can find some of my playlists here, here, here, here, and my Advent ones here and here) or I catch up on my favorite podcasts. Speaking of which, Fountains of Carrots has a new episode featuring recording artist Colleen Nixon and chatting about Advent music, balancing motherhood and creative pursuits, how beauty points us to Jesus, and moose. So if you’ve got dishes to do or laundry to fold (we all do, right?) head on over.

#5: Binge-watch a good show. So…I’m certainly not as EFFICIENT when I watch Netflix or Amazon Prime while laundering or cleaning. But it sure is more fun to fold clothes and do dishes while watching Miss Lane’s daily adventures in Lark Rise to Candleford.

What are your favorite ways to add a little fun to the housework? Let’s chat in the comments!
