Intermediate Handbook:  The Intermediate Student Parent Handbook is posted to the Resources page of the Intermediate School Dashboard.  Please review this document with your daughter and submit the electronic acknowledgement form found at the end of the handbook as soon as you can.  The acknowledgement form was due by September 1st.

Allergy Awareness: Many of our students at Carrollton have food allergies, some of which can be life threatening.  In an effort to reduce risk of exposure to food allergens, we can all work together to become allergy aware as a community and help our students be responsible for their own allergies.

Encourage your daughters to eat only what is in their own lunch box and pack only the food your daughter will eat.  Please join us in discouraging the sharing of snacks and lunch.

If your daughter has known allergies, please speak with your daughter about the ways she can be responsible for her food intake.  You are welcome to bring alternative treats; send in and store a supply of special treats in the office or school refrigerator for your daughter.  If there is a gouter (a French word meaning snack and a Sacred Heart tradition) on a Sacred Heart feast day, or a birthday treat that your daughter cannot eat, she is welcome to retrieve one of her special treats.

As noted in the Intermediate Handbook, birthday treats are the only snack that can be brought for the class.  Please be allergy aware when choosing birthday treats for your daughter to share with the class.  Since nuts are among the most prevalent allergens, we strongly suggest that treats do not contain nuts.  The most common treats that our students bring do not have nuts in them, so this should be a relatively easy way to be allergy aware.

Celebrating Saint Teresa of Calcutta's canonization, we hope to count on your continued support of the Carrollton Casserole Project during the 2016-2017 school year.  Hundreds of Carrollton Families show their love for the less fortunate every year by preparing simple meals for the homeless, which are collected frozen and brought to a local homeless shelter run by the Missionaries of Charity, Saint Teresa of Calcutta’s religious order. Through this effort, Carrollton families bring to life the third goal of the Sacred Heart: a social awareness that impels to action. The Carrollton Casserole Project will have its first collection on Tuesday, September 20. To receive the recipe and more information, please send an email to carrolltoncasserole@gmail.com.

Blessings,

Mrs. Gillingham-Rivas
