The Audi A5 hasn’t been fully redesigned since its debut for 2008, and it’s starting to show its age. On June 2, Audi will finally reveal a new A5 coupe in Ingolstadt, Germany.

We’ve seen prototypes of the Audi A5 for quite some time now. The model will ride on the new MLB Evo platform just like the Audi A4. Aluminum, high-strength steel, and composite parts should help bring weight down between 200 and 250 pounds from the current model.

For the U.S., it’s likely the A5 lineup will receive a base 2.0-liter turbo-four packing 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The engine should come paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch; don’t expect a manual offering on the new A5 as Audi did away with the row-your-own option on the U.S.-spec A4.

Audi is expected to offer coupe, convertible, and sportback versions of the A5, although we only expect to see the coupe debut on June 2. Leading up to the big reveal, Audi has commissioned Hungarian group “Maxin10sity” to head a massive light show. The show runs for six consecutive evenings starting May 25 and will illuminate the 2,300-square-meter surface of the Audi Forum building in Ingolstadt.
