Uganda’s representatives in this year’s CAF champions’ league, KCCA, are off to Cameroon ahead of their second league clash with Cosmos De Bafia after winning the first leg tie 1-0 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole fortnight ago.
The Lugogo based club flew off yesterday to Duala, Cameroon aboard Air Rwanda. In the traveling squad, senior returnee defender Joseph Ochaya was left out of the squad due lack of a CAF license which also forbade him from featuring in the first leg.
January signings Savio Kabugo (Cranes defender who scored against Ghana at Namboole) and striker Francis Olaki were also left out of the 18-man squad due to injuries. However the enterprising winger Michael Birungi made it to the squad.
The Uganda Premier League defending champions need not to lose by a 2 goal margin in order to qualify for the next round in which the victor will face off with South Africa’s Orlando Pirates.
Travelling Players:
Goalkeepers: Yasin Mugabi & Benjamin Ochan
Defenders: Timothy Awani, Ayub Kizza, Simon Namwanja, Isaac Ntege, Ronnie Kisekka, Habib Kavuma and Sakka Mpiima
Midfielders: Tom Masiko, Owen Kasule, Michael Birungi, Hakim Ssenkumba and Ivan Ntege
