This position will support Ohio, New York and Missouri Provider Solutions. This position will serve primarily as a support for the Provider contracting business teams, and be responsible for reviewing contracts and drafting language for a variety of provider documents such as professional and hospital reimbursement agreements, other innovative provider initiatives, and ad hoc documents such as non disclosure, data use, and business associate agreements. This position may also be responsible for providing legal advice related to new provider initiatives, provider complaints and appeals, as well as recovery and claims issues, credentialing, network and medical management matters impacting providers. In addition, this position will work collaboratively with lead attorneys and governmental affairs in the designated states. This position will be responsible for independently completing a variety of routine and non-routine legal assignments using professional legal concepts and principles to solve challenging legal issues in practical ways. The candidate must work autonomously with regular collaboration with other attorneys in the designated states. Must have experience in the health insurance industry. Preferred locations are Ohio or Missouri.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
* Proactively assist provider contracting staff with legal issues that arise during contract negotiations.
* Review proposed contract language changes; draft alternative language to protect the company's interests when needed.
* Support development and roll-out of new provider contract templates.
* Utilize contract management software to facilitate tracking of custom provisions and documentation of required approvals.
* Assist in early resolution of provider disputes to avoid litigation.
* Review provider communications, including manuals, newsletters and material change notices, to ensure compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
* Evaluate legal risks of care management initiatives; propose alternatives to minimize risk where applicable.
* Analyze provider contract restrictions as applied to new transparency tools and electronic health record and claims database initiatives.
* Develop solutions and support teams working on unique and new opportunities in the health care arena.
* Assist with provider network filings; draft responses to comment letters; interact with regulators as needed.
* Recognize legal restraints on markets and competition during development of collaborations and new opportunities with the provider community.
* Review proposed legislation affecting the company's interactions with providers to identify implementation challenges; assist implementation teams with interpretation of final bill language.
* Develops recommendations and solutions that are thorough, practical and consistent with organizational objectives.
* Works collaboratively with other attorneys and paralegals.
* Assesses and mitigates risks while providing options to business issues.

* Requires a JD; current license to practice law
* 3 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
* Health insurance or managed care experience is strongly preferred.
* Must be licensed to practice law.
