SummaryThe Leader, GPS Program Support leads a geographically dispersed and cross functional team that has the responsibility for the continuous development, delivery, management and improvement of processes which directly support NiSources GPS Program. This program is directly linked to the upgrading and enhancement of NiSource gas facility records while improving damage prevention from third party excavation. The Leader is responsible for running the ongoing operations of the Program to a high standard of quality, customer satisfaction and productivity. The position will require the Leader to manage NiSources Program which includes actively driving and participating in the Program development as well adapting facility records to meet the current and future needs of NiSource.The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Manage, grow and provide day-to-day leadership for a team that supports multiple business partners through instilling a sense of exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and process ownership
Build relationships and engage key stakeholders in cross-functional projects ( e.g. around user experience, higher data quality and more robust systems integrations)
Ensure Program data is updated and accurately maintained in GIS production environment(s) and/or any other applicable supporting system(s)
Define, track and report meaningful Program metrics
Drive identification, assessment and execution of ongoing process improvement opportunities in terms of user experience, equipment/software functionality, quality and productivity
Manage Program escalations to ensure systems or process issues are resolved quickly
Oversee and support delivery of technical support and training for Program users
The team of technicians under this Leader is responsible for providing Program support for Construction and Field Operations staff involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of distribution facilities. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting quality assurance and quality control audits on Program activities, reviewing and executing data control processes for insertion into the GIS system and assist with Program mapping activities through technical support and training.The GPS Program Support teams focus is on fostering the continuous improvement of pipeline safety by identifying, researching, developing, integrating, and supporting initiatives to enhance facility records quality and its delivery, maintenance, and application within NiSource NGD. Essential Responsibilities
Leads a cross functional and geographically dispersed staff
Manages the daily activities of GPS Program Support division technicians
Provides staff with training, guidance and development opportunities
Analyzes Program deliverables and assure compliance with proposed designs, company standards and other applicable guidelines and codes
Ensures accurate and timely records reported in GIS and other applicable systems prior to delivery of facility records to production environment(s)
Collaborates with Damage Prevention Manager and other applicable stakeholder groups in the establishing of departments strategy, objectives, and business priorities
Recommends, helps justify, and implements value-added technology, tools and planning techniques to proactively enhance and improve NiSources damage prevention program
Participates in best practice identification, quantification, and adoption within the group and business partners
Contributes in risk identification, quantification and problem solving task forces to make recommendations to management
Ensures the GIS data structure and data quality support the effective use of spatial data in applications throughout the enterprise
Drives functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence
Encourages a proactive damage prevention culture
Effective partnerships with Field Operations, Damage Prevention, Construction, Engineering, Compliance, IT and other Technical Operations functions to establish, prioritize and meet strategic business goals and objectives

Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years gas operations, utility damage prevention, utility mapping or equivalent professional experience
Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, cartography, survey, GIS, information technology, or business related discipline.
Experience in managing/leading a GIS, GPS technical project, records management or operations function
Knowledge of database, design and systems management
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software suites
Experience or training in interpreting or applying standards, codes, regulations or proposed designs
Experience and ability to view, read and accurately interpret drawings, designs, plans, as-built documentation, sketches, operating maps, highway relocation plans, survey plats, tax annexations, and right of way documentation
Highly skilled and extensive experience in reading, interpreting, translating and calculating spatial measurements scales
Experience in analyzing technical and financial information within the scope of specific projects
Ability to be effective in a geographically dispersed and cross functional workforce
Valid Drivers License
Preferred for Selection:
Supervisory experience
Gas utility locating, utility damage prevention, GPS surveying, gas plant/service/transmission operations experience
GIS Certification
Experience with AM/FM/GIS, geo-coding, GPS and other related spatial technologies.
Gas utility operations experience
Knowledge of gas utility industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
Proficiency in corporate digital mapping/GIS software (e.g. ESRI, ArcFM, MicroStation, AutoCAD)
Experience with work management systems and/or customer information systems
