Purpose:The Enterprise Architecture Manager Enterprise Technologies is responsible for overall enterprise level enterprise technologies planning, design, implementation and optimization. This role develops enterprise level strategies and direction for enterprise technologies; including integration technologies, unstructured data solutions (eg OpenText, Sharepoint), end user technologies and application portfolio management. This role is responsible for the technical plans, designs and implementation of the enterprise technology solutions. This position identifies and/or translates business analysis and requirements into business solutions.Key outcomes for success include:

Effective management processes and tools used as a key input into IT investment decisions and in developing solution alternatives to meet business needs

Proactive plans for future enterprise technology needs, based on anticipated business goals and industry direction

Published enterprise technology architecture standards, frameworks, patterns and procedures

Best practices for enterprise technologies architecture development and maintenance used in the software development lifecycle including processes to ensure compliance to the technology and security standards

Reduced cost of enterprise technology architecture maintenance via effective reuse and improved processes

Own and manage the enterprise application portfolio to drive down application management and support cost, application retirements and refresh, technology reuse, and application optimization/rationalization.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead the creation and/or evolution of the enterprise technology capabilities roadmaps, integration, unstructured data / records management, end user and enterprise application portfolio management

Lead the identification and analysis of business drivers to develop enterprise technology requirements

Analyze technology industry and market trends and determines potential impact upon the current enterprise technology landscape

Lead the development of architecture governance structure based on business and IT strategies

Oversee architecture implementation and ongoing refinement activities

Direct the development and execution of a communication (including education) plan for architecture standards

Act as a sounding board or consultant to IT and business leaders in the development of IT solutions for enterprise technology needs

Design innovative and effective transaction interfaces for existing and new products and services

Plan and recommend enterprise technology solutions for integration, unstructured data solutions, end user technologies, application portfolio management.

Approve and modify design and architecture to ensure compliance

Proactively identify risks and evaluates solutions to mitigate these risks.

Prepare, present, and recommend new solutions for possible implementation with supporting documentation to support a business proposition

Monitor enterprise technology management and performance, ensure capacity planning is performed routinely, and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement

Perform troubleshooting procedures as required, and design procedures and resolution methods and scripts for improved proactive operations

Work collaboratively with service providers to provide operational support to and for customers issues and maintain current issue/event status

May take on role of Project Leader for special enterprise-wide assignments

Develop reporting to ensure the health of the environment

Utilize tools to provide alerting in the case of issues

Utilize tools to monitor operational metrics and capacity trends

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in a relevant field of work or equivalent work experience

Has proficient understanding of principles in one or more functions of a position

Cross-functional technology knowledge in Network, Applications, Information, Hosting and End user computing domains

Typically possesses 5 to 10 years of relevant professional work experience, with at least 3 in a similar architecture role.

Requires prior management, supervisory or team leader experience

Experience in a multi-data center, multi-service provider environment.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to self-motivate and manage time effectively

Experience working with external vendors such as IBM, Microsoft, OpenText Oracle, HP and others

Excellent problem solving, organizational, and customer service skills

Project management and vendor management experience

Must be able to implement solutions in coordination with distributed teams

Possess superior oral and written communication skills

Ability to be on call and work off-business hours

In depth knowledge desired in these areas: Enterprise FTP solutions; Service Oriented Architecture (SOA; IBM MQ / Message Broker); Sharepoint; OpenText; Cognos; Datastage; Application portfolio management; End user software/firmware/patch management; End user technologies, especially mobile; MobileIron and mobile device management; Lotus Notes/Domino

Experience with ITIL preferred

Familiarity with utility industry preferred Travel will be required; up to 60% expected.
