Columbia Gas of Ohio is aggressively seeking an experienced professional for an opening on the Human Resources team. The position will primarily support departments located in the downtown Columbus area. We are seeking an individual who has experience as a change agent/facilitator, self-starter, excellent relationship builder/influencer, and has a proven ability to think like an owner. The successful candidate will be offered a position as Consultant or Senior Consultant depending upon the candidates level of experience and will report to the Director, Human Resources.PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE:Builds organizational human capacity for effectively addressing business needs by managing appropriate delivery of HR services that directly support employees and the Company.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partners with others in HR to provide timely delivery of Human Resource services that directly support the accomplishment of corporate, business unit, and department objectives.
Serves as the primary point of contact between business units and HR. Maintains a deep understanding of business unit operations.
As an influential leader, recommends, counsels and assists management regarding employee relations, recruiting and staffing, compensation, organizational design, training, diversity, leadership development, workforce planning, process improvements, succession planning, performance management, and benefits.
Consults with business units to identify people issues and provide options for resolution. Ensures solutions align with overall business objectives.
Provides Human Resources support to employees while fostering an environment of ownership.
Acts as project manager coordinating special HR initiatives as needed.
Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to learn new methods for achieving HR solutions that help drive business success.
Ensures federal and state compliance of FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, etc.
Utilizes computer technology to deliver and streamline the delivery of Human Resources services to the business units.
Conducts day-to-day administrative management duties associated with being a team member of a professional staff.
Bachelor#39;s degree in Human Resource Management or related field required. Master#39;s degree preferred.
Five + years of experience in consulting/generalist roles along with other HR and business experience required.
SPHR or PHR certification preferred.
Demonstrated collaboration skills to lead the creation of effective customer solutions; a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively across organizational boundaries.
Ability to act as a primary source of information for senior leadership.
Understanding of Human Resources policies and procedures and appropriate application.
Knowledge of Human Resources functions with significant depth of knowledge in 1-3 of the following functional areas including, but not limited to: employee relations, recruiting and staffing, compensation, organizational design, training, diversity, workforce planning, records management, development, process improvements, succession planning, performance management, and benefits.
Demonstrated consultation, facilitation, and negotiation abilities.
Demonstrated leadership ability in a fast paced, high stress business environment. Must be able to effectively manage and execute tasks with multiple conflicting priorities.
Demonstrated project management skills. Includes identifying needs based on business objectives, formulating a plan of action and effective execution of the plan.
Attitude of responsiveness, sense of urgency and willingness to go the extra mile to meet the customer#39;s needs.
Competent user of computer technology with emphasis on PeopleSoft, applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Overnight travel occasionally required.
