Position Summary:
Functions as a recognized expert, providing authoritative professional guidance to staff at the Chemo Infusion Center. Personally attends to the most difficult, complex or unusual cases and will develop and conduct specialized education/public information classes in this specialty. In addition, assumes immediate responsibility for the clinical investigation of new drugs in the specialty. Will also perform the day to day responsibilities of drug distribution, processing, and therapeutic intervention as needed. The Specialist will undertake tasks and projects to improve therapeutic and financial outcomes. Incumbents will lecture two times per year to other medical professionals and be published at least one time every three years in a medical journal. May be a co-principal investigator on patient clinical research, or an investigator on Pharmacy practice research. This position is a Direct Patient Care Provider as defined in Pharmacy Policy.
Salary Range:
Rate Minimum $103,700.00 Maximum $186,900.00

PHARM PROF SVS Appropriately prepares, reviews, and approves validation protocols for process validations related to area of specialty. reviews and revises standard operating procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations, USP, and applicable guidelines to assure smooth operations and compliance with the appropriate guidelines, rules, and regulations

PHARM PROF SVS Responsible for the oversight of all continuous quality assessment and improvement programs for area of expertise. Demonstrates an awareness of legal issues and manages situations to ensure that area of responsibility is compliant with all applicable policies and laws. Reviews and evaluates QA data, and information on complaints and deviations, and appropriately initiates corrective action and/or reports out results of analysis to all appropriate parties

Actively participates as a preceptor to pharmacy students, residents and technician students; actively participates in the training of new staff. Serves as an effective participant on clinical rounds and participates in committee meetings and programs to promote patient care, provider understanding and optimal drug therapy

PHARM PROF SVS Perform the day to day responsibilities of drug distribution, computer drug and IV order processing. Accurately compounds and dispenses extemporaneous preparations and controlled substances. Appropriately prepares parenteral products using aseptic technique. Implements appropriate age related pharmaceutical therapy and performs and documents drug therapy interventions

Appropriately initiates, designs, implements and validates new procedures and processes for more efficient pharmaceutical services and ensures that service requirements are appropriately met

Supervision: Acts as a coach and positive role model for staff by establishing and maintaining a safe work environment that fosters positive morale. Appropriately monitors and addresses performance issues, applying corrective or disciplinary action when needed. Effectively manages staff in compliance with applicable labor union agreement, and all established policies, procedures and legal guidelines. Ensures effective staffing levels, and handles recruitment and selection for unit.

Required Qualifications:
Registered Pharmacist
Minimum four years of clinical experience as a licensed pharmacist, or two years experience & a Residency
Expertise in Pharmacotherapy, Residency preferred
Current BLS or ACLS certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Significant experience (more than 2 years) developing and implementing drug utilization programs for both inpatient and outpatient populations
3+ years working experience in a chemo infusion center
Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
Effective presentation skills
