Summary

The Sr. PCB Design Engineer will execute the design and development of PCB layouts, as well as, coordinate efforts within internal-external teams to reach desired goals.

Capabilities

6 years of proven expertise in Electronic Part Packages.

Must be proficient in Analog/Digital mixed signal and high voltage/high power PCB layout methods.

Proven design experience using Altium Designer in laying out dense, small SMD and through-hole PCBs.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or up to 6 years’ relevant work experience.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access)

Must be proficient in Altium Designer, experience with Mentor Graphics, PADS Logic/Layout is desired.

Experience

Design and draft advanced PCB layouts using components that are densely placed with significant mechanical positioning constraints.

Review and analyze engineering design schematics and supporting documents to plan layout of PCB components and printed circuitry.

Translate handwritten schematics into Altium Designer CAD tools.

Update and maintain Power Logic/Power PCB or Altium Designer CAD libraries.

Research electronic part packaging finding smaller substitutes.

Create complex footprints and update the component database using Microsoft Access.

Working knowledge of 3D concepts in creating components and PCB structures.

Produce, check and revise bill of materials.

Reverse engineers and translates legacy designs into current formats

Identify and troubleshoot to pinpoint and resolve errors in early stages to avoid delays and unexpected costs.

Verify mechanical fit of PCB into product and make recommendations

Work directly with PCB manufacturers to solve PCB related design issues.

Consults with Manufacturing Engineers to gather manufacturability requirements and resolve design details/issues.
