If you are a graduate with 50% marks and would like to apply for this exam but have not applied so far, please go through my previous blog post titled: RBI Recruitment 2013 (Assistants) Notification, Eligibility & Forms.
At first let me tell you that RBI Office Assistant is a clerical post – the qualification required for this job, the salary offered as well as exam pattern is same as the ones for Bank Clerks. Hence although no specific information on RBI Assistants exam could be found on the net, you can bank upon bank clerical exam papers and books of other bank exams such as IBPS Clerk exam, SBI Clerk exam etc.
First let us start that with the pattern of RBI Assistant written exam.
Pattern of RBI Assistant exam 2013:
As per the notification, the written exam for Assistants consists of five test sections with 40 marks each – thus totaling 200 marks. The exam is going to be held online. The questions are going to be Objective type. With this, the format/pattern of RBI exam is as given at right.
Duration of RBI Online exam for Assistants is 2 hours. There is negative marking, -0.25 for each wrong answer.
This exam pattern is exactly similar to IBPS Clerk CWE exam – you can just have a look of the pattern of IBPS exam as given at left. All the exam sections are similar – the only difference is there are 50 marks for each test section in IBPS CWE, while there are 40 marks in RBI Assistants exam.
So your exam preparation plan should be test section-wise - i.e. take one test section (say Test of Reasoning), gain confidence over it and than go for the next test section. Let me tell you that if you prepare accordingly, in case if you do not qualify in RBI Assistant exam - you can appear for 19 other PSU banks with this preparation through IBPS CWE.
