This blog article of mine is a sequel to a previous blog post titled: BSF ASI HC Recruitment 2012 Notification & Forms and is intended to provide you the prep materials for BSF recruitment exam for Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI-Radio Mechanic) and Head Constables (HC-Radio Operator). It at first discusses about the pattern of BSF ASI & HC Exam and than goes on to provide you the sample papers & prep books to prepare for the same.
In the very beginning, let me tell you that prep materials available on the net for BSF ASI & HC written Exam is very scarce- almost non-existent and hence, you have to depend on prep materials available for similar recruitment exams, conducted for Class-XII pass qualification, with the syllabus for Physics, Chemistry & Maths..
Selection process for BSF ASI-Radio Mechanic & HC-Radio Operator:
Selection process for ASI-Radio Mechanic & HC-Radio Operator positions in BSF is conducted in two phases: Written exam in Phase-I & other tests in Phase-II.
The written exam consists of 200 marks. Subsequent to it, you have to appear in Personal Interview of 25 marks. In addition to above, for HC-Radio Operator position, before the Personal Interview, you have to appear in English Dictation, which is of 10 marks. Thus total marks for BSF ASI-Radio Mechanic is 225 marks while for BSF HC-Radio Operator, the same is 235 marks, as you can see the table of marks at right.
Exam Pattern/Syllabus for BSF ASI & HC Exam:
There are 200 marks in the written exam,which is of 3-hours duration. It has four parts: Physics, Chemistry, Maths & English-cum-GK. You can find the section-wise mark-distribution of BSF ASI & HC Exam in the table at left.
Syllabus for BSF ASI & HC Exam as given in the notification is: Physics, Chemistry, Maths subjects would follow the Class-XII syllabus of CBSE & state boards while English & GK section would consist of question from Current affairs, History, Geography & General Science.
This pattern of exam is similar (although not identical) to SCRA (Special Class Railway Apprentices) Exam, which is also based on Class-XII syllabus of Physics, Chemistry, Maths subjects, apart from General Ability Test on English, GK and Psychological Test. Each of the 3 papers of SCRA exam has 200 marks with 2-hour duration. You can find the SCRA exam pattern in the table at right. You can also find in this article the SCRA Exam syllabus.
But let me tell you that although both exams are patterned on the syllabus for Class-XII exam, SCRA exam is much difficult and competitive. Therefore, if you base your preparation based on SCRA exam, the BSF written exam for ASI-Radio Mechanic & HC-Radio Operator should be very easy for you.

Although I searched on the net for sample/previous years exam papers of BSF ASI & HC Exam, I could not locate any reliable papers. But I feel following authentic previous years SCRA exam papers should help you understand what sort of questions are asked in recruitment exams, based on Class-XII syllabus:
