The Career Foundation offers a wide range of career and job related programs. Since its inception in 1988, The Career Foundation has steadily expanded its services. Operating out of seven locations, we now help thousands of people each year successfully accomplish their employment goals. The Career Foundation receives funding from Employment Ontario, Service Canada, and private sector companies.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Assesses customers’ needs and assists them in developing a Service Plan
Keeps up to date information on referral sources by liaising with Community Partners
Makes appropriate referrals to Employment Ontario services and tracks customers’ progress
Manages a caseload of hundreds of customers annually ensuring that written documentation and statistics for each file is consistently up to date
Assists customers with various components of the application process for training
Manages client information in EOIS and The Career Foundation’s database
Conducts onsite/offsite job search workshops
Participates in the design, implementation & evaluation of job search material to meet the needs of job seekers with barriers to employment
Monitors individual participant and group process to maximize client learning, self-confidence and employability skills
Makes resources available in print, online and through short workshops; workplace H&S, Human Rights, specialized workshops for newcomers, youth, disability, laid-off workers, etc.
Assists employers to attract and recruit employees/skilled labour by facilitating employment related events, internal job boards, employer prospecting activities
Identifies barriers to employment and provides supported referrals for clients to the appropriate community services for individual support
Assists in the implementation of effective program marketing strategies in the community
Assists clients in the exploration of occupational and training requirements, professional accreditation, language, credential & PLAR
Provides orientation to workplace, life skills coaching, support for disclosure of a disability
Supports assisted clients in planning and conducting job search based on a realistic and accurate assessment of qualifications compared to job requirements
Guides and supports individual clients in the daily completion of job search tasks
Conducts exit interviews with participants to ensure service provided was in accordance with service plans and met the highest standards of The Career Foundation
Assesses participants’ employment goals and establishes whether further assisted or other referrals are required
Prepares and submits weekly and monthly reports on service and client activity
Collects data on service needs, service delivery and service satisfaction
Develops a resource pool of mentors/coaches
Develops support plans with participants and mentors/coaches
Links participants with appropriate mentors/coaches to provide support during and after job placement
Monitors mentor/coach relationships and its impact on workplace and individual success and facilitates adjustment as required
Plans and executes an effective outreach plan targeting appropriate clientele
Recruits participants and ensures that required number of participants start services Initiates and maintains documentation of contacted community organizations in an organized manner (including a database)
Develops ideas for outreach and with supervisor’s approval, implements those ideas and maintains such strategies
Participates in community events, job fairs and such activities to inform jobseekers about Career Foundation and recruit them for the program
Visits and builds relationships with Community Partners in the area for referrals of participants including Libraries, Community Centers, Toronto Community Housing, etc.
Maintains flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
Qualifications/ Skills Required:
Experience in assessment and case management
Experience in job search techniques and coaching, outreach, group facilitation, and life skills coaching
University Degree required
Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling for the development of business documents
Strong internal and external customer service focus, positive attitude, initiative and professional attitude
Experience with youth, women’s services, internationally educated professionals, newcomers, ESL job seekers, disability issues is an asset
Second language is an asset, preferably French
Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues by maintaining a solution focused climate to enhance information sharing and listening skills, and to maintain collaborative work relationships
Access to a vehicle is an asset
Computer Proficiency with MS Office, Internet and Email
Experience: 3+ years
Start date: Immediately – March 31, 2016 (possibility of renewal)
