The ultimate girl next door; she is one of the only girls in showbiz who can make casual sweats and a baggy jumper look chic. She has Cameron Diaz as a best friend and is married to the ever so dashing Will Kopelman, if you don’t want to be her you then you most probably want to be her best friend and really we wouldn’t blame you for it. She is one sassy lady and one talented actress, here’s why we could all learn a thing or two from the most down to earth woman in Hollywood.

#1 She is resilient.

It’s often so easy to just assume celebrities are happily married and live the perfect life but it hasn’t always been that way for Drew. Before turning 18 she had called off two engagements, she divorced her first husband after just a few months and then divorced the second after just a year. Now happily married and mother to two beautiful children Drew has finally been given the happy ending she deserved.

#2 She is a business woman at heart.

You may just see her as a big screen actress who plays the lead role in all your favourite chick flicks but did you know Drew was actually a rather savvy business woman. At a young age she started her own film production company called Flower Films, she has her own line of Pino Grigio (a girl after our own heart) and she has an affordable luxury cosmetics line. Who knew she was such a multi-tasker.

#3 She’s A Huge Advocate For Equality.

“I am who I am because of the people who influenced me growing up, and many of them were gay. No one has any right to tell anyone what makes a family” – Drew Barrymore. As a huge advocate for equality and gay rights, Drew has famously attended protest rallies against Prop 8, a California ballot that made gay marriage illegal. Using her celebrity status to do good in the world is very refreshing to see and will hopefully send out a positive influence.

#4 She Supports Charity work.

In 2008, Drew announced on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she was donating a whopping $1 Million to the World Food Programme to help feed children in Africa. She has worked with the charity since 2005 and has visited Kenya twice to see the work that goes into the programme. Drew is also a known ambassador of several other charities including UNICEF and Red Cross.

#5 She is proud of who she is.

Drew may have her own beauty line and is never one to shy away from the Hollywood glamour of a red carpet  but she still loves dressing down and enjoying life as a normal everyday woman. One of her best quotes shows that as much as she loves dressing up and feeling glamorous sometimes it’s so much nicer to just be yourself and let that shine through.

If you want more big actresses that are also amazing human beings, why not read about Jennifer Lawrence or Angelina Jolie. A lot of the time people just see actresses and celebrities as vacuous and big-headed, but these women are savvy, successful and are managing their lives well in the most stressful business of all – show business!
