So you want to be an entrepreneur? Fantastic, but where do you start? Being your own boss is pretty much everyone’s dream, but the business world can be scary and educating yourself is essential. Not everyone can afford the soaring prices of education, but luckily for us, there are free courses out there that can help you on the road to entrepreneurship. Here are five of them.

#1 Diploma in Business Management and Entrepreneurship – ALISON

ALISON’s free online Diploma in Business Management and Entrepreneurship gives students the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices behind key business management subjects; including corporate management, operations management, accounting, human resources, financial accounting and project management, as well as key insight on entrepreneurial skills from Bill Liao, co-founder of the social networking site XING.

Successful students even receive a business management certificate, ideal for enhancing career prospects.

#2 21 Critical Lessons for Entrepreneurs – Udemy

This video course from Docstoc CEO Jason Nazar teaches his real world experience and discusses all the important steps of running a successful business, such as raising money from investors and vetting an idea. Students are able to get their information from someone who has done it all before and Jason teaches strategies he himself has used to make his business successful.

#3 Introduction to Web Development: HTML – Udemy

The internet grows every single day and is now an essential part of any business; every business should have a website. For wannabe entrepreneurs that might not be tech savvy, this course teaches HTML and coding knowledge and students will complete the course with a thorough understanding of how to create HTML web pages and make changes and edits to existing pages.

#4 New Venture Finance: Startup Funding for Entrepreneurs – University of Maryland

All start-up businesses need funding and although some entrepreneurs choose not to seek outside funding, the majority seek it out. This online course teaches you how to secure this funding, explaining what to do in the early stages of the business to prepare for funding, where to source funding, how to pitch to investors and how to close funding. The course stresses to students that part of being successful is being prepared.

#5 How to Build a Start Up – Udacity

This free online course has almost 300,000 students and teaches an introduction to the basics and an insight into the key steps needed to build a successful start-up.

The course shows students how to rapidly develop and test ideas by gathering customer and marketplace feedback which will in turn avoid failure that many start-ups face simply by not testing their ideas early with real-life customers. Students will learn how to get out and search for the real issues and unmet needs of customers and discover proper solutions for establishing a suitable business model. Those who take the course will learn business skills such as effectively communicating with customers, gathering and evaluating customer feedback, customer relationships, identifying key resources, partners and distribution channels and calculating their costs for delivering their product.

So if you’ve been wondering where you can learn more about being an entrepreneur, all you have to do is click away and start learning! It’s as simple as that!
