There’s a possibility of seeing the northern lights in the next few days, but even without a sighting the Hill still offers up weekend thrills.
Cairo’s annual EXPO 91 fest this weekend features an art-fueled opening reception on Thursday, followed by three nights of “hilarious and gnarly pop/rock and elusive visual- and aural-experimenters.” EXPO 91′s music nights are $7 and all ages, with the line up as follows: Friday – Newaxeyes, Youryoungbody, Black Hat, USF, Nice&AO. Saturday – Health Problems, Childbirth, Stickers, Hornet Leg, Wimps, Weed. Sunday – Corey J. Brewer, Maryjane Dunphe, Dragging An Ox Through Water, Elissa Ball, Lori Goldston & Dan Sasaki.usic events are $7 and are all ages.

Rounding out an art-focused Thursday is the monthly Blitz Capitol Hill Arts Walk. The Seattle Asian Art Museum offers free admission during Blitz every month, so it’s a good evening to check out our neighborhood Art Deco gem. Other art walk highlights include a Star Wars-themed show at Ltd Gallery, photographic portraits by Don Wallen of Seattle’s 1970′s “fringe community” at the Pine Box, and neon light installations at Vermillion. Capitol Cider introduces new art-themed cocktails along with live drawing and music to kick off their very first art walk. See the full list of events at the art walk website.
Neumos and Moe Bar celebrate their respective 10th and 20th anniversaries with a week of shows starting Thursday. Read more about the venue’s tribute to Seattle music and the history of Moe and Neumos here.
Art Ache Market and Hangover Flea Market continue to share space and sell handmade and vintage goods at Chop Suey. This month’s edition of the combo market is Sunday 1pm – 6pm. Free with DJ music and $3 mimosas.
