Launched in 2001 by fine art graduate Doreen Southwood, Mememe is a popular boutique on the vibrant Long Street. Over the past 10 years, the boutique has housed designs by the cream of the crop in South African fashion, including Adam & Eve, Friends with Jenny and Barbara Rishworth. Shoppers are invited into an intimate space to admire unique garments and accessories to help express their individuality.

2 The Space

The Space is certainly no run-of-the-mill store. Opened to offer a platform for the exposure of young talent, this outlet stocks items by premium local designers such as Amanda Laird Cherry, Leigh Schubert and Colleen Eitzen. Each of their ranges boasts a distinctive flair, allowing the wearer to flaunt their personal style in true South African fashion. What's more, the stores sell an assortment of delightfully quirky gifts and trinkets including baking kits and room sprays.

3 Mungo & Jemima

In 2008, fashion designers Kirsty Bannerman and Marian Park-Ross joined forces to bring this timeless fashion brand into being. The brand made its mark with a flagship store on bustling Long Street but has since grown and opened a second store in the tourist-infused V&A Waterfront. GOOD, Coppelia and I Love Leroy are just a few of the clothing ranges stocked, while you can find the best trinkets from Famke, Laloo, Pichulik and WAIF too.

5 Calegra Bridal House
