DETROIT — Ford is recalling more than 100,000 vehicles in North America, including some 8,000 in Canada, for various safety defects.
No injuries related to the defects have been reported in any of the several separate recalls announced Tuesday.
The largest recall — 92,022 vehicles — affects the 2013 and 2014 Taurus, Lincoln MKS, and Police Interceptor sedans, the Flex and Lincoln MKT crossovers, the 2012-2014 Edge and 2014 Lincoln MKX.
Ford says the right-hand halfshaft, which is part of the axle, may disengage over time, making the vehicles inoperable.
Transport Canada’s website says 8,173 Ford Edge, Flex and Taurus and Lincoln MKS, Lincoln MKT and Lincoln MKX are facing recalls, while 143 Escape SUVs will be recalled in Canada.
Ford is also recalling 5,264 2011-2014 F59 commercial stripped chassis because corrosion could lead to a fire risk. Six F59 commercial stripped chassis face recalls in Canada, says Transport Canada.
Ford also recalling 2,124 Escape SUVs from the 2014 model year because their panoramic glass roofs might leak or fall out.
The company will notify owners and dealers will repair the vehicles for free.
